The owners The Bourgeoisie Minority of society Are powerful, own land, factories, companies, organise the economy and hold the power over all social structures e.g. legal system and the media exploit the workers, living off the money that the workers earn 2.   • 14. • Society’s institutions make up ‘the superstructure’ - and all serve the needs of the economic system (‘the infrastructure’) • ‘The family’ is one of society’s ‘institutions’ which serves Capitalism!   • 27. Marxism as a theory of the family, is immoral. The Family is essential for a capitalist society to function. Marxism is just too negative about the family. Marxism is not applicable to 21st Century society and family life.
