  1. 1. January 2014 In This Issue 1.1 2014 Radiology CPT Code Changes 2014 Radiology CPT Code Changes 1.2 The Top 7 ICD-10 Implementation Resources 2.3 The Importance of Patient Focused Care One of the most irritating parts of the job of a radiology billing department is likely that of appealing insurance denials. Making sure that your radiology billing office is up-to-date with its CPT codes for the coming year is paramount to avoid getting a denial marked “obsolete” or “non-billable.” Here is a review of code changes for 2014. Click here to read this full article. 2.4 ACR & RBMA Jointly Publish New Contracting Guidelines The Top 7 ICD-10 Implementation Resources The ICD-10-CM implementation deadline is approaching quickly. With the new year arriving soon, healthcare professionals will have just ten months to get their systems switched over to the new coding system before the October 1, 2014 deadline. Ideally you are already in the process of switching your medical office over to the new coding protocol. We’ve compiled seven of the best implementation resources to assist you in the transition: Click here to see the entire list. (855) RING-HIS 350 S. 2. 2. The Importance of Patient Focused Care Radiologists need to become more involved with their patients; partnering with their patients is absolutely necessary to foster the kind of relationship required for optimal patient care. That was the basic message delivered by Radiological Society of North America president Dr. Sarah Donaldson to the RSNA 2013 attendees. On December 1, 2013, in Chicago, President Dr. Donaldson, current professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford California, former nurse, research assistant and high school cheerleader, delivered an impassioned plea to radiologists to recognize the importance of getting more up close and personal with their patients. ACR & RBMA Jointly Publish New Contracting Guidelines We’d like our clients and friends to be aware of the new Managed Care/ Commercial Insurance Contract Evaluation Guidelines, published by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA), and how they may affect you. These guidelines are intended to make it easier for all sides to evaluate and negotiate managed care contracts involving radiology or radiation oncology. The guidelines contain definitions and strategies for negotiating and implementing managed care contracts. Click here to read this full article. Have Questions? We’re happy to help.
