1. What have you learnt about technologies
from the construction process of your
media product?
2. Technology used to Construct
I learnt to use a HD camera which I used to film. The HD camera that I used
was very useful as it has various features which made it easier to film and
enhanced the quality of the camerawork. For example, there was an option
to use the grid which would help for the framing of the subject. Also, there
was the zoom button which you could move slightly for a range.
I also used my iPod touch which came in handy for some of the
evaluation questions, I used it to download the Soundcloud app and
record some people for audience feedback, this was very convenient as
I had a portable device so I could record anywhere I wanted to.
3. Technology used to Create
To edit our film we used iMovie HD, at first it was really hard to use, in the end I got the hang
of it. There are various features which are helpful and effective which this technology, for
example, the side screen which lets you see all of your imports and drag them into the section
where you cut and add sounds. Also, there is the element which you can use to add some of
the titles, this was particularly helpful to us as we tried to make titles using Final cut Pro and
found that more difficult, so in the end we used iMovie HD. I also learnt to use Photoshop
which has many different fonts and styles which I found helpful to use to make the main title
with. I used Photoshop again to crop some images which I used for other tasks.
4. Technology used to Share
(Research & Planning Blogs)
To upload the presentations and work I created to put on my planning and research
blog, I learnt how to use sites such as Prezi which allows you to create moving
presentations and presents my work in a professional layout. I also learnt to use
Slideshare which is similar to Prezi, except it allows you to upload pre-existing
slideshows straight onto my blog for the examiner to see, this was useful as it is
very simple to use and is very fast and efficient. I learnt to use Scribd which allows
you to upload Word Documents onto your blog, it also has a community of other
Scribd users who can view and comment on your work and this is useful as I was
able to see other work like mine and gain an understanding on how I was to
present my work also. I learnt how to share a video from Youtube, using an embed
code which posts the video onto my blog and allows others to see what examples
of film I wanted to share. Lastly, I made a Flickr account which made it easier to
upload my location shots straight onto my blog and was easy and fast to learn to
use.
5. Technology used to Share Film to
Audience
Using my already existing Facebook account, I used the feature of sharing a link from Youtube to
Facebook to post and share my video for my friends to view it. I posted the video on my wall and
put up a questionnaire and some people commented using the comment box feature. I also have
a Blackberry Smartphone and one of the features of it is the Blackberry Messenger which allows
you to send broadcast messages, using this tool, I promoted my video sending them a link to
watch my film on their Blackberry Smartphones as well.
