  • 1. What time is it? Am I late for school?
  • 2. Let’s brainstorm: Why do we use time? When do we use time?
  • 3. We have two kinds of clocks.
    This is a digital clock. The digital clock has the hour first and the minute last. A colon separates the hour from the minute.
    This is an analog clock. An analog clock has two hands. These hands are called the hour hand and the minute hand
  • 4. This is an analog clock. An analog clock has two hands.
  • 5. The hour hand is the short hand. We are looking at the numbers 1-12 when telling the hour.
  • 6. The minute hand is the long hand. We have to count by fives to determine the minute. Count with me.
  • 7. When the minute hand is pointing to the 12, we refer to that as :00 or o’clock.
