This document provides an overview of corporate social responsibility practices in Southern Africa, noting several trends: 1) Regional exchange is growing as emerging economies partner across borders, while private philanthropy and foundations are also increasing. 2) New approaches like impact investing, social entrepreneurship, and bottom-of-the-pyramid models are being used. 3) Measurement of social and environmental impact is increasingly important, along with stakeholder engagement and evidence-based models. 4) Legislation in areas like Black Economic Empowerment and sustainability reporting have motivated compliance and integrated approaches.
