  1. 1. Trying to find your next job??? Here is a simple map for you.... Follow these easy steps to your success!

  3. 3. Have your resume reviewed by each one of these people... Hiring Manager Recruiter HR Manager Colleagues
  4. 4. They will be checking your resume for: Grammar and/or Spelling errors Vocabulary is correct for your industry You have included ALL your GREAT achievements
  5. 5. Step TWO...
  6. 6. Posting your resume on the sites with the best access for employers and recruiters
  7. 7. DO NOT FORGET... These are GREAT Sites to have your friends, family, co-workers and colleagues help you get ahead!
  8. 8. <ul><li>Remember “Recruiters” work for agencies and Corporations alike. Silly notes on your resume posting such as “If you are a Recruiter. Don’t Call Me!” will be noted and they won’t call you! </li></ul><ul><li>100 resumes an hour are posted to any given site. Update your resume daily if not weekly. </li></ul><ul><li>Keep your reference OFF your posted resume. Recruiters will call them BEFORE they call you. Nothing like losing the job before you even interviewed for it. </li></ul><ul><li>Email addresses that are cute to you, are NOT cute to your next employer.   12. 12. Answer the following questions to help narrow down your list.
  13. 13. <ul><li>What location do you want to work in? </li></ul><ul><li>What industry do you want to work in? </li></ul><ul><li>What kind of company? (public, private, Government or institutional) </li></ul><ul><li>How many Employees does the company have? </li></ul><ul><li>How much does the company do in sales? </li></ul><ul><li>Who would you report to? </li></ul>

  16. 16. You NOW have a list of 100 + companies. Don't waste too much time. Select 5 and move on...
  17. 17. <ul><li>60 % of the economy runs on small to medium companies. Open a phonebook, you might find a company that suits you there. </li></ul><ul><li>Look for signs. Several employers do not know how to post a job on the web. Look around town, today I counted 5 signs on PROFESSIONAL companies looking for Professionals like you. </li></ul><ul><li>Tell people how they can help you. When networking with people share your list with them and ask them to recommend companies that fit your list. </li></ul>Some Interesting FACTS About Companies

  22. 22. <ul><li>What did you find on their website about their products or services you liked the most? </li></ul><ul><li>What does their corporate goals or mission statement mean to you? </li></ul><ul><li>Have you used their product and service? What did you like about it? </li></ul><ul><li>What are people saying about them? i.e. newspaper articles, friends/ family or clients </li></ul>

Reasons we would want to work for NRX <ul><li>I want to work with a company that has over 100 years of combined management experience in the global software industry. </li></ul><ul><li>I want to work for a company with your levels of service. When I worked with Chevron I was very impressed when you came in and improved productivity and reduced operational, safety, and compliance risk over the full operating life of these critical assets. </li></ul><ul><li>I want to work for a company that is a market leader in improving productivity and reliability in their client plants. For example what NRX did for AEP </li></ul>
  25. 25. <ul><li>Do your homework and ask lots of questions. Some companies you will not want to work for even in a BAD economy. Plus it make you look smart. </li></ul><ul><li>Find a friend. When you find a company you want to work for check Facebook and Linkedin for people you know that work at the company. Call them and get the inside scoop. </li></ul><ul><li>Be nice to everyone.   33. 33. Your Resume and Interview skills are READY!!! Now you are ready to call the mangers you want to work for, at the companies you want to work at!!!
  34. 34. You have a list of companies you want to work for. Take your list of 5 companies, rank them 5 to 1. 5 is the company you would like to work at moving to number 1 the company you would REALLY like to work for.
  35. 35. You have done your homework. You know why you want to work for them! What better way to start a conversation then to share with your future manager how much you like the company they have chosen to work for. Now you have 3 reasons to call the manager you will be reporting to.
  36. 36. The best way to engage someone to feel like they want to meet with you is to share with them how you are going to save them TIME and MONEY. Your Special Talent is how you are going to save them TIME and MONEY . You have also done thier Homework for them. Share with them WHY they would want to meet you!
  37. 37. Now call your new Manager! They are waiting for you.
