Meet our Assistant Camp Director, Raina Baker!
Born in Chimacum, Washington, Raina Baker found a passion for horses at a
young age. Baker developed a strong work ethic at a young age working to
enable her passion of horseback riding, and at 14 got her first horse, Tiki.
Once Raina started riding Tiki, she could be found spending most of her time
participating in 4-H and the United States Pony Club. To this day, Raina’s
favorite competition is three-day eventing, which consists of Dressage, Jumping,
and Cross Country. Raina was also very involved at her high school, competing
in drama, choir, volleyball, track, cheerleading, and her equestrian activities.
In 2001, she graduated from Washington State University with Bachelor’s
degrees in Opera and Sociology, and in 2002 moved to San Diego to begin
working here at Rawhide Ranch! In order to be able to advance within the camp
industry, Raina obtained her Masters in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga
University in 2009. Over her 27 years of camp involvement, Raina has held
many positions, including Counselor in Training, Program Staff, Program
Director, and now, Assistant Camp Director of Rawhide Ranch!
Most of the time she isn’t working, you can find her relaxing or smooching Maxx’s
nose, being that he’s her favorite horse here at the Ranch. Next time you see
her, ask her to sing the hippo song. Recently, she adopted a dog named Oscar,
