  1. 1. Randall Library News for September 2010 August “All Staff” Meeting Begins with a Challenge . . . and Recycled Physical Catalog Want to know if Cards! there’s a computer available in the Randall Library staff gathered on August 12 for their first library before you “all staff” meeting since University Librarian visit? Sarah Barbara Watstein came on board. The “all staff” meeting was distinguished not by its objectives, but by its format, and specifically a challenge posed to staff in advance of the meeting. Staff was asked to define Randall Library and to submit their “definitions” on recycled printed catalog cards in advance of the meeting. At the meeting, staff took turns reading aloud the various responses. Taken individually or collectively, they provide a snapshot as to how staff feels about Randall Library. Engaging with these “definitions” offers a unique opportunity to take the pulse of Randall Library, and a unique opportunity to appreciate the incredibly rich resources that staffs themselves bring to their work and to the University.
