Student Risk Education & Management Fund Guidelines and Restrictions Guidelines for Student Risk Education & Management Funding: Eligibility: Registered campus organizations or official student governments (USAC/GSA) Maximum The maximum award from this fund is $1,000 for any individual program. Award: An organization that puts on multiple programs may submit an application for each of its programs. Criteria: Criteria for funding are content-neutral. To be eligible for funding, a program must:  Be student-initiated and student-managed;  Provide a direct benefit to the UCLA community;  Demonstrate clear goals and thorough planning; and  Adhere to University policies, campus regulations, and established procedures.  A significant number of UCLA students must be involved in planning and/or participating in the program.  Participation must be open to any interested UCLA student, without an admission fee.  No funding will be provided if alcohol is served at the program.  Funding is provided for specific programs/projects only; it is not provided to an organization as a general allocation. For on-campus programs, funds will be awarded to assist with mandatory1 risk management expenses, typically including:  The cost of required insurance  The cost of required safety services (e.g., CSO’s, police, EMT, etc.) NOTE: For on-campus programs to be eligible for funding, at least 70% of the audience/participants should be UCLA community members (i.e., students, faculty, staff, or other active BruinCard holders). For community service projects, funds will be awarded to assist with mandatory2 risk education and risk management expenses of a specific project, typically including:  The cost of required background screenings (e.g., fingerprints, DMV pull)  The cost of required training (e.g., blood pressure screening)  The cost of required insurance NOTE: For community service projects, funding will be allocated for specific programs or sites; funding will not be allocated to the project. 1 For on-campus programs, mandatory risk management expenses are those required by UCLA Events Office, ASUCLA events, or the specific campus facility/venue in which the event is being held. 2 For community service programs, mandatory risk education and management expenses are those mandated by University policy or procedure (including policies and procedures published by CPO and CSC); local, state or federal law; or the service site.

Student Risk Education & Management Fund Application Prior to completing an application, please review the attached guidelines and restrictions A limited amount of funding is available to assist registered campus organizations and official student governments in offsetting the costs of risk education and risk management measures required for the operation of their programs. This funding is intended to supplement other funds you have received in order to assist with a portion of the risk education and management expenses of student programs; it is not intended to fully cover all risk education and management costs, nor to fund other costs associated with your program/project. The maximum award will be $1,000. All funding allocations are content-neutral. Funding is allocated to eligible programs on a first come, first served basis as applications are received. Organizations may apply for funding for their on-campus programs, and for their off-campus community service programs. Other than for community service, off-campus programs are not eligible for this funding. Organizations are strongly encouraged to submit applications early in their planning process. A complete application must be received in the office of Student & Campus Life (1104 Murphy) not later than two weeks prior to the event or the application may not be considered for funding. Applicants will be contacted by e-mail at least one week prior to the event regarding a decision. A completed application packet must include a completed Application (this form). Estimates/Invoices should be attached to substantiate the budget. Applications submitted without the signature of the organization’s CSP advisor will not be considered. The maximum award will be $1,000. To receive funding, you must demonstrate that you have enough funding from other sources that this will be a viable program.
