Sub:- FOREST DEPARTMENT – SAW MILLS – Transfer of
ownership and relocation of the Saw Mills – Circular issued
– Reg.
Ref:- G.O.Ms.No.91, E,F,S&T For (III) Dept. Dt: - 11.07.2006.
-&&&Attention of the officers noted in the address entry is invited to the
subject cited. It is informed that vide reference cited; Government has issued
orders for transfer of ownership and relocation of the Saw Mills from one
place to another place. Accordingly, many proposals are being received in
this office for shifting of saw mills.
It is further informed that, the remarks of Circle heads are being
received in this office without information on Sustainable availability of forest
produce and number of saw mills in their respective circles / Divisions.
All the officers are requested to examine the sustainable availability of
raw material in the divisions where the saw mill is proposed to be shifted
keeping in view of the number of saw mills already functioning in the division
and furnish the following information at the time of submitting remarks and a
clear speaking order should be given whether they are accepting the
proposal for shifting of saw mill in their Division / Circle or not.
1. Speaking orders about the impact of addition of one more saw mill on
Sustainable Forest Management in the Circle / District/ Divisions.
2. Examine the issues like, number of saw mills already present, the
productivity of the Forests & its growing stock and
3. Whether material would be available for operation of saw mill on a
sustainable basis for all the existing saw mills.
