in what ways does your movie use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

  1. 1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIAPRODUCTUSE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS ANDCONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIAPRODUCTS?By Mohoshin Raja
  2. 2. Use of conventions from real media• An example of real media that we looked at was, AttackThe BlockThe screen shot shows twoyouths wearing hoodies andnormal street clothing like jacketsand tracksuit bottomsSimilarly, we used the clothing thatnormal teens wear in London, to matchthe conventions of our genre
  3. 3. Conventions of Dialogue• Also, another movie we looked at was Kidulthood.• In this movies the youth of London use a lot of slang andthey have their own dialect. For example they would use alot of slang, swear words and coded words.• Similarly, we used the same type of dialect. This wasn’tvery hard because we are common with this type of EastLondon dialect as we grew up with such use of language.
  4. 4. Developing and challenging real mediaproducts• Whilst looking at movies like Adulthood and Kidulthood, one will notice that the storyline is very similar. Theyboth have the same type of ‘bad guys’ and have similarlooking characters. However, our media product develops andchallenges this because we have a complexand different storyline. For example the ‘badguy’ in our movie is different from the ‘bad guy’in kidulthood. He looks different and talksdifferent.
