  3. 3. So the mandecided to helpthe butterfly: hetook a pair ofscissors andopened thecocoon.The butterflythen emergedeasily.But it had awithered body, itwas tiny andshrivelled wings.
  4. 4. The mancontinued towatch becausehe expectedthat, at anymoment, thewings wouldopen, enlargeand expand, tobe able tosupport thebutterfly’sbody, andbecome firm.
  5. 5. Neitherhappened!In fact, thebutterfly spentthe rest of itslife crawlingaround with awithered bodyand shrivelledwings. It neverwas able to fly.

What the man, in hiskindness and his goodwilldid not understand wasthat the restricting cocoonand the struggle requiredfor the butterfly to getthrough the tiny opening,were God’s way of forcingfluid from the body of thebutterfly into its wings, sothat it would be ready forflight once it achieved itsfreedom from the cocoon.
