1. To Whom It May Concern, July 11th, 2015
I met Rachel Fine in August of 2014 through our mutual employment with the Center for Teaching and Learning in
China. Ms. Fine was employed as a Foreign English Teacher and I served as her manager.
At the beginning of her employment, Ms. Fine successfully completed a month-long training course at the Beijing
Normal University campus in Zhuhai, China, where she earned her TEFL certificate. Ms. Fine excelled in her role as a
teacher and overcame issues with students, language differences, and teaching tactics. Ms. Fine immediately proved herself
to be one of the strongest teachers we had in the program, and her classroom presence and management stood out from the
rest. The fast-paced training demands and the effects of being thrust into a new culture didn't seem to take a toll on Ms.
Fine's enthusiasm, and she was able to balance her intense workload and new professional demands while still engaging
herself in the program and in Chinese culture.
At the end of training, Ms. Fine was assigned to work at a public high school in the Longgang district of Shenzhen.
A few months after the school year began, she was once again observed at her school while she taught and was extremely
impressive with not only the level of her teaching skills, but also the reviews from her students and colleagues at the school.
As a high school teacher, the issue of designing lesson plans that were not only educational, but also interesting to the
students, was hard to overcome for many, but Ms. Fine's students spoke fondly of her and her classes.
Throughout the year, it was not only a privilege to see Ms. Fine's teaching capabilities advance, but also to see her
thrive in her new surroundings and to get to know her better as a colleague. Ms. Fine was present and took part in program
and school activities, and took opportunities to travel and explore new places and cultures. Ms. Fine was an excellent
employee, and I have no doubt she will bring the same level of intelligence, professionalism, and creativity to her future
ventures.
Sincerely,
