  2. 2. Sexting (sěkst-ing)- <ul><li>The sending of sexual, or self revealing text messages via cell phones or other mobile devices. </li></ul><ul><li>Example: </li></ul><ul><li>Sending nude pictures of yourself or another through a cell phone. </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Survey <ul><li>In order to find out more information about teens and sexting, we created a 10 question survey asking a variety of questions related to sexting. </li></ul><ul><li>We then distributed 25 surveys out to random students and teachers in our school. </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Results <ul><li>All of those who took the survey were either 17 years of age or older. </li></ul><ul><li>Every person who took the survey currently owns and uses a cell phone. </li></ul>
  5. 5. The Results <ul><li>We discovered that 88% percent of those who own cell phones send text messages in some form. </li></ul>
  6. 6. The Results <ul><li>Of those who send text messages, 59% send or have sent sext messages at some time in their life. </li></ul><ul><li>96% of those who own a cell phone know what “sexting” is. </li></ul>
  7. 7. The Results <ul><li>A total of 91% of “texters” have sent at least one picture of themselves or another via cell phone. </li></ul><ul><li>27% of those picture messages were nude pictures. </li></ul>
  8. 8. What would you do if your picture was revealed to the public via text message?
  9. 9. If you are a victim of sexting, here is what you should do: <ul><li>Report it- to either a parent, school councilor, or police officer. </li></ul><ul><li>Tell those with cell phones to please delete the photo if they receive it or see it on another persons cell phone. </li></ul>
  10. 10. How to stop sexting: <ul><li>There is no way to stop sexting, but you can lessen the amount of sexting. </li></ul><ul><li>Avoid sending inappropriate pictures of others or yourself via text messages. </li></ul><ul><li>Make the texting world a better place and stay away from sexting! </li></ul>
