    2. 2. INTRODUCTION  The head office is located at Doordarshan Kendra, Mandi house, New Delhi.  LARGEST BROADCASTING ORGANISATION  1st service started on 15th Sep,1959  Doordarshan = Distant + Show  Doordarshan is an Indian public service broadcaster.

    4. 4. TELEVISION STUDIO • A television studio is an installation in which television or video productions take place. •     Doordarshan-Delhi has four studio halls: Studio Big (B) Studio Small (S) Studio Medium (M) Studio Large (L)
    5. 5. COMPONENTS OF TV STUDIO • • • • Camera Lighting Microphones Vision mixer and Audio consoles • MSR • VTR • Supporting services like AC, UPS
    6. 6. Production Control Room • Activities in this area are: Direction to the production crew by the producer  Timing a production/telecast  Editing  Monitoring of output/off air signal
    7. 7. Components of PCR • Monitor Program And Graphics • Vision Mixer (to select video sources) • Audio Mixer • Linear and Non-Linear editing Vision Mixer • Audio Mixer
    8. 8. Master Switching Room • It is the heart of the studio. • Signal is routed through MSR from various various to Earth station. • Signal can be Monitored at various stages.
    9. 9. Equipments Installed • Router (64 X 64) • Audio/Video Switcher • OFC Rack • Frame Synchroniser • DVDs and AVDs • D/A and A/D converters • SPG • IRDs
    10. 10. EARTH STATION • An earth station is a terrestrial terminal station. • Designed for transmission and reception of radio waves from an astronomical radio source. • The signal is up-linked from the Earth Station and received by many down link centers in TV broad casting via satellites.
    11. 11. Major Components of Digital Earth Station • PDA (Parabolic Dish Antenna) • FEED • Wave Guide / Low Loss Cable • HPA (TWTA, Klystrons) • Up converter • Modulator • Encoder • Multiplexer • IRD (Integrated Receiver Decoder)

OB VAN • Outside broadcasting (OB) is the production of television or radio programmes from a mobile remote broadcast television studio. • It is also known as mobile PCR. •     OB Van is equipped with: 8 numbers of Digital CCD cameras 16 input vision mixer and 16 audio mixer . One computerized MOVE CG for superimposing titles. Long haul microwave link is also available with OB.
    14. 14. DSNG VAN • It stands for Digital System News Gathering and it operates along the OB van. • It is also known as mobile Earth Station. • The DSNG Van is equipped with:  Encoder  Up converters / down converters  Baseband equipments

STANDARD DEFINITION TELEVISION (SDTV) •    SDTV in widescreen format provide Enhancements Multichanneling Eliminate errors found in analog transmissions • Aspect ratio- 4:3 or 16:9 • Little bit higher state of resolution than 'analog television system‘ • The two common SDTV signal types  576i  480i CLARITY

MERITS AND DEMERITS SDTV Merits: • More vivid than analog TV • It has better sound. • Many accompanying functions like multitasking, electronic program guide etc Demerits: • Lower resolution than HDTV HDTV Merits: • Twice the linear resolution of SDTV • Increases effective image resolution Demerits: • Require more bandwidth • Distorted pictures due to lossy compression
