  • 2. Sentences are made up of different types of words and each has its own job.
  • 3. Nouns
    Common Nouns are the names of things such as people, places and objects.
    Proper Nouns are the names of a particular person, place or thing and always begin with a capital letter.
  • 4. Example:
    Lisa went to London on Friday and took her dog.
    Proper Nouns: Lisa, London, Friday
    Nouns: dog
  • 5. Pronouns:
    A Pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. For example:
    he
    she
    them
    there
    it
  • 6. Example
    Lisa went to London on Friday and took her dog.
    becomes...
    She took it there.
    She is a pronoun that replaces Lisa
    it takes the place of dog
    there takes the place of London
