3. Three Treasures Associated with Rosary

  1. 1. Three other Treasures related to the Rosary: 1. The Confraternity of the Rosary 2. The Communion of Saints 3. The Law of public prayer (St. Louis de Montfort)(All the above have to do with theCommunion of Saints)
  2. 2. The Communion of SaintsI. The Confraternity of the Rosary. The army of prayer warriors of the Catholic Church. ( It was started in the 12th century. Unfortunately many of us have never heard of this Confraternity)
  3. 3. Our Lady asked St. Dominic not just to get people to say the Rosary, but to come together in a united prayer. The Rosary Confraternity is the Confraternity officially appointed by the Church for the promotion of the Rosary. Pope Leo XIII: “---St. Dominic (Spanish, 1170-1221) is said to have been its founder.”
  4. 4. The Cure of Ars (St. John Vianney) said: "If anyone has the happiness of being in the Confraternity of the Rosary, he has in all corners of the world brothers and sisters who pray for him.” There is always a fellow Rosarian somewhere in the world praying the Rosary and, wherever they are, Rosarians are praying as of one heart and mind "like a single chorus of supplication" (cf. Acts 1:14).
  5. 5. "If anyone hasthe happiness ofbeing in theConfraternity ofthe Rosary, hehas in all cornersof the worldbrothers andsisters who prayfor him.”(St. John Vianney)
  6. 6. Pope Leo XIII said in hisencyclical on the Confraternity,“Whenever a person fulfills hisobligation of reciting the Rosaryaccording to the rule of theConfraternity, he includes in hisintentions all its members, andthey in turn render him the sameservice many times over."
  7. 7. He includes inhis intentionsall its members, and they inturn renderhim the sameservice manytimes over.
  8. 8.  It is a ‘prayer club’ or ‘prayer group’. The Rosary Confraternity has a mission, a special ‘office’, ministry or work for the Church. That is why until modern times popes were inclined to talk of Rosarians in almost military terms. They were, the ARMY OF PRAYER WARRIORS, conscripted by St. Dominic, marching under the banner of the Mother of God, united as comrades, the enemies of evil both within and without.”
  9. 9. Let us all join the Rosary confraternity, TO RAISE AN ARMY OF PRAYER WARRIORS IN MILLIONS------ around the world, around the clock, to advance the mission of the Catholic Church.Confraternity of the Rosary
  11. 11. The Communion ofSaints: The Rosary“The communion of life with the Saints ofparadise is the remedy which I am givingyou. How great is their heavenly power.”•Never pray the Rosary alone.•Pray with Mary and the Angels andsaints.
  12. 12. The Holy Rosary: Mary’s words1. Pray with Mary • “The Rosary is a prayer that you say together with me. When you invite me to pray for you (“pray for us sinners, now”) I unite my prayer to yours.” • “When you recite the Rosary, you invite me to pray with you, and each time, I truly join in your prayer.”
  13. 13.  The Rosary mystically transports us to Mary’s side. (Pope John Paul II) “It is a mother’s joy to be with her children.” “When you say the Rosary the angels rejoice in it, the holy Trinity delights in it, my son finds joy in it and I myself am happier than you can possibly imagine. After the holy Sacrifice of the Mass there is nothing that I love so much as the Holy Rosary." (Words of the Blessed Virgin according to Blessed Alan de la Roche)
  14. 14.  The Eternal Father described to a group of us, through a Visionary Friend of mine, what happens when we pray the Rosary, saying, "When you pray Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now......, the Blessed Mother comes instantly to your side to pray with you. And she does not come alone. She brings angels and saints with her. And not just one or two for she is the Queen of Angels and Saints, so choirs of angels and saints come with her. And she and Jesus are joined at the heart and cannot be separated so she brings Jesus with her. And Jesus cannot be separated from the Trinity so He brings the Father and the Holy Spirit with Him. And where the Holy Trinity is, all of creation is, and you are surrounded by such beauty and light as you cannot imagine in this life.
  15. 15. Your Mother comes as Our Lady of Grace with her hands outstretched. Rays of light emit from her hands piercing your body, healing you and filling you with graces. This is your inheritance which was poured out from the heart of Jesus on the Cross, when the centurion pierced His Heart with the spear, into the only pure vessel ready to receive such graces at that time, Your Mother. Now as you pray the Rosary, or even just recite one Hail Mary, you receive your portion of these graces. He also said at this time, "Anyone who goes to Mary and prays the Rosary cannot be touched by Satan." Is it any wonder that anyone who prays the Rosary from the heart is so blessed and protected and powerful in their prayers for others?
  16. 16. 1* Pray with Mary (“Pray for us sinners now”) 3* 2* 1*The Rosary prayer is no longer a monologue or a dialogue, but a chorus---------a true communion of angels and saints!

THE ROSARY CONFRATERNITYS BENEFITS The special protection of the mother of God. The intercession of the entire heavenly court. A share in the prayer of countless numbers of members the world over, and this even after death. A share in the prayers, Masses and apostolic works of the entire Dominican Order. Various plenary and partial indulgences. With such tremendous blessings and benefit, let us all join in the Confraternity----to have brothers and sisters all around the world, and all the angels and saints in Heaven to pray for YOU!!!
  21. 21. Let us never againpray the Rosaryalone, but with theentire celestialcourt and theConfraternity ofthe Rosary. This blessing isconferred toanyone who joinsthe Confraternityof the Rosary.
  22. 22.  When our Blessed Lady gave the Rosary to St. Dominic, she ordered him to say it every day and to get others to say it daily. St. Dominic never let anyone join the Confraternity unless he were fully determined to say it every day.
  23. 23. How to join the Rosary Confraternity1. You only need to pray ONERosary of 5 decades daily. ThreeRosaries daily is even better. No fees, no meetings, no training.2. Log on to The Rosary Confraternitywebsite, enter your name, and addresson its application form. All done andyou are a member!
  24. 24. The Communion of SaintsIII. The Law of Public Prayer (St. Louis de Montfort)
  25. 25. Importance of GROUP PRAYER(1) Our Lord expressly recommended this practice to his apostles and disciples, and promised that whenever there would be at least two or three gathered in his name he would be there in the midst of them.(2) Our Lady asked St. Dominic not just to get people to say the Rosary, but to come together in a united prayer.
  26. 26. “When the Rosary is said incommon, it is far more formidable tothe devil, because in this publicprayer it is an army that is attackinghim. He can often overcome theprayer of an individual, but if it isjoined to that of others, the devil hasmuch more trouble in getting thebest of it. Why, then, should not Christiansjoin forces to have Jesus Christpresent with them, to frustrate andovercome the devil more forcefully. -------St Louis de Montfort
  27. 27. THE COMMUNION OF SAINTS is the Church. “What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints?” Since all the faithful form one body, the good of each is communicated to the others. We must therefore believe that there exists a communion of goods in the Church. As this Church is governed by one and the same Spirit, all the goods she has received necessarily become a common fund.” “They had everything in common” Everything the true Christian has is to be regarded as a good possessed in common with everyone else. The “communion of saints” therefore has two closely linked meanings: communion “in holy things” and “among holy persons.” (Catechism)
  28. 28. The law of public prayer( St. Louis de Montfort)“One who says his Rosaryalone only gains the merit ofone rosary; but if he says itwith thirty other people hegains the merit of thirtyRosaries.”This is a logical extension of thedoctrine of Communion of saints.
  29. 29. One who prays with 30 people, gets the benefit of 30 Rosaries.
  30. 30. By praying together with 200parishioners on a weekend Mass, you go home with the blessings andmerits of 200 Rosaries!
  31. 31. Everyone else also gets 30 Rosaries!
  32. 32. The Law of Public Prayer30 X 30 = 900 (30 people group prayer)100 X 100 = 10,000 (100 people group prayer)200 X 200 = 40,000 (200 people group prayer)300 X 300 = 90,000 (300 people group prayer)Total number of Rosaries multiplied= N X N = N²“How profitable, how advantageous this is!”( St. Louis de Montfort)
  33. 33.  Our Lord performed the miracle of the Multiplication of Loaves. We are all part of the Mystical Body of Christ. With the wonders of the Communion of Saints and the Law of public prayer, we should capitalize on this treasure of the Catholic Church to the maximum: to bring about the Miracle of Multiplication of the Rosaries. We do not need to add to the numbers of Rosaries laboriously one by one, but multiply the numbers EXPONENTIALLY: N² by praying together.
  34. 34. For a congregation of 300 people, theyneed to gather for group prayer onlyonce a month and they can generate 1million Rosaries a year! 300 X 300 = 90,000 90,000 X 12 = 1,080,000For a congregation of 200 people, theyneed to gather only twice a month, togenerate 1 million Rosaries a year! 200 X 200 = 400,000 400,000 X 25 = 1,000,000
  35. 35. For St. Andrew Church, with 4 Masses over theweekend, a estimate of 200 parishioners attendeach Mass, if all prays together,200 X 200 = 40,000 R One Mass40,000 X 4 = 160,000 R One weekendNumber of Rosaries raised in ONE year is160,000 X 12 (once a month)= 1,920,000 R160,000 X 52 (every week) = 8,320,000 R A GREAT ROSARY CRUSADE!
  36. 36. I. THE ONE MILLIONROSARY MOVEMENTLet us all gather for 20-25minutes before theweekend Mass, and praythe Rosary TOGETHER inCenacle with Mary. The tremendous power:
  37. 37. 1. Each one will get the merits of asmany Rosaries as the number ofpeople praying together. Imagineyou just have to join a 200 membercongregation once a month, and youget 200 Rosaries every month, and2400 Rosaries a year!2. Every Church can generate andoffer to Our Lady 1 million Rosariesor more annually.Let this One-Million-RosaryMovement spread around the world!
  38. 38. II. UNIVERSALPRAYER COVERAGEis a most powerfulunifying concept for theEvangelization ofNations.
  39. 39. The whole Church is apostolic. TheChristian vocation is of its nature, avocation to the apostolate “to spreadthe Kingdom of Christ over all theearth.” (Catechism)The entire Church is missionary, andthat the work of evangelization is theduty of the whole people of God.(Vatican Council II). By the grace and call of Baptism andConfirmation, all lay people aremissionaries. (Pope John Paul II)
  40. 40. The goal of universal health coverage is enshrined in Article25 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights statesthat everyone has the right to a standard of living adequatefor health, including medical care. The Constitution of theWorld Health Organization declare that “The enjoyment of thehighest attainable standard of health is one of thefundamental rights of every human being without distinctionof race, religion, political belief, economic or socialcondition.”If physical health is enshrined as afundamental human right, in UniversalHealth Coverage, how much moreshould spiritual health of every humanbeing be enshrined in Universal PrayerCoverage for the Church and the world.
  41. 41. • The 20-25 minutes before the weekend Mass offer the ideal time for this Universal Prayer Coverage (Participation), with the entire congregation praying the Rosary in Cenacle with Mary.• Each decade is led by one person from different nationalities, and the entire group pray for Evangelization of a nation, using the “National Rosary”. Over the course of a year, many or all nations or continents can be covered.
  42. 42.  A. Every faithful receives blessings: It ensures that every parishioner receives the most precious spiritual gifts and blessings attached to hundreds of Rosaries, each time they attend the weekend Mass. B. Every faithful gives blessings: It allows every one of the faithful, to be a missionary, in the Apostolate of Prayer for the universal needs of the Church, and all the nations of the world. It empowers everyone to go on center stage, to be an actor and not a bystander irrespective of age , gender, social class, or even disability. It provides a platform or opportunity for every faithful from every ethnic group to fulfill his/her duty to the work of evangelization, and to contribute to the spiritual welfare of his country and his countrymen.
  43. 43.  C. All peoples of all countries are covered. Usually petitions at Masses cover mainly the clergy, leaders of government, the sick, the dead, and local parish concerns. Over 95% of the whole populations of nations are not covered! Universal Prayer Coverage ensures that our prayer intentions and petitions extend to cover ALL people in the whole world. Recitation of the “NATIONAL ROSARY” (after every decade in the “Rosary in Visual Art”) allows everyone to pray for his country and his countrymen, and his continent.
  44. 44. • This Universal Prayer Coverage offers a platform or opportunity for every faithful from every ethnic group to fulfill their duty to the work of evangelization, and to contribute to the spiritual welfare of his country and his countrymen.• This Universal Prayer Coverage also addresses the problem of petty petitions as pointed out by Fr. Bob Bedard. It makes sure that all of us pray for the evangelization of our country, and salvation of our countrymen first, after every decade. At the end of Rosary, then we can pray for all our personal intentions, however small.
  45. 45. Without prayer, you cannot supportyour own personal spiritualdevelopment, or that of your family,or your country. At this time and age when prayer is soneglected by most Catholics, and even whenthey attend once a week at the weekend Mass,so few make use of the time to pray, butsimply sit idly, or engage in chit-chat, thisconcept of UNIVERSAL PRAYER COVERAGE(PARTICIPATION) is even more important tofill a huge void at a time of spiritual crisis.
  46. 46. A new standard ofexcellence for ChurchesHow good a Church is, is not measured byhow big it is, how beautiful its stained glasswindows look, how much money it donatedfor charity, how many parish ministries it has,how eloquent the priest’s homilies, howbeautifully its choir sings etc, but by theparishioner’s Devotion to Mary as indicatedby the sum total of Rosaries recited. TheChurch that recites the most Rosaries is thebest Church, and will flourish! Conversely, aChurch will die for the lack of prayers.
