Organizations have invested a heavily in their ERP and CRM systems, and very likely have mobile access to email. But providing information; relevant, time-critical decision information to the mobile workforce; has been more often than not overlooked. The impact to the mobile workforce can be significant, particularly during these economic times where time critical decisions are so important. Acting early and often can be can be critical, particularly in today’s economy when action without information can be devastating to companies. Think about it! Much of the activity of customer-facing professional and the mobile workforce is dependent on timely and accurate access to information and processes they need to do their jobs. And In response to the needs of a new kind of workforce, Businesses are becoming increasingly mobile Smart Phones hold nearly 10% of the global mobile phones market And its projected that annual growth for Smart phones will reach nearly 60% - this means that nearly 60% of six billion phones worldwide And Analyst predict that mobile applications (including SAP BusinessObjects Mobile) will achieve Double digit growth (between 20 and 37% from 2006 through 2011) With the Convergence of Mobile & Business Intelligence mobile devices enable immediate access to enterprise information from anywhere And the expectation of moving from desktops and laptops to mobile applications is a given
  • Second, it needs to be easy for any user. Users are coming in different shapes and sizes and have sometime very different technical expertise. Their needs and the way they wish to present answer can be quite different and cover a large spectrum. For some users, they just want to quickly find an answer by just pointing and clicking on areas of interest. For others, the way the information is formatted and presented needs to be very professional with consistent graphics and tables. It could be that you are asked to review performance metrics in the form of dashboards in front of your boss this afternoon directly from Microsoft Office Presentation The SAP BusinessObjects philosophy has always been to provide the best tool for the need at hand and an user experience that is unified, with great visual cues and of course interactive. The goal is to empower all users (executives, analysts, staff, suppliers, and partners) so they can make better-informed choices and decisions.
  • People need to get the information wherever they are and whenever they require it and organizations must do so by offering differing means to access this information. SAP offers on-demand BI solutions that doesn’t require any IT infrastructure, doesn’t require installation or internal deployment. With BI On Demand, enterprise can instantly get a team, a department, an entire division access to analytics so people can start can accessing and share relevant now information. It can also be used with your ecosystem without having to worry about firewall and legacy IT perimeter security. Information can be accessed on the road or wherever people are using their mobile devices such as RIM Blackberry and Apple iPhone. For example, a sales person could use SAP BusinessObjects Explorer on his iPhone to review the latest orders prior to a meeting with a customer. He would get the same answer, the same rich user experience as if he was on his laptop at his favorite coffee shop or tethered to his computer in the office conference room. Embed the information they need directly in their workflow, directly in the business application that they use in their daily life and allow them to view the relevant information, information for better decisions on the spot without having to leave their CRM application, or their logistic program for example. An important part of any strategy to provide access and deliver decision-making information to anyone within your business network is the self service model. It’s the main door to the wealth of existing corporate information and as such it must be able to present the information available in an efficient and visually attractive way so users don’t loose time manually sifting what is relevant from what is not for their particular task or decision and that’s an integral part of SAP BUsinessObjects BI Suite. Finally, information must reach people where they spend probably a lot of their time, in the Microsoft Office Suite , whether it’s our ability to surface reports and dashboard directly in Work, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and keep the data always in sync.
  • It also allows business users to interact directly with the data. For example, when reviewing a sales report chart, for example sales by geography, with a single click on the relevant content, they can drill into report that provides sales for a specific geography by year by quarter. When they are finished reviewing that content, they can drill backup to the summary level content If what the user sees in the report warrants immediate action, for example they need to update their sales pipeline immediately, they can change the content (in this case sales data) directly from the mobile devise, or they respond via SMS or interact with the data by calling or directly emailing the report to the individual (in this case a specific account rep) that dropped their forecast, without leaving the report. This capability means that mobile workers now have an opportunity to react more quickly to information when they get it, and to act confidently, because it is information directly from the business intelligence environment And if they disconnected, they can still reviewing the reports offline
