  • 1. Writing can be a daunting task unless one knowsthe proper steps to successfully write an essay.Without these following steps, one can be lostwhen it comes to completing a well-writtenessay:1. Prewriting2. Outlining the structure of ideas3. Writing a rough draft4. Revising5. Editing
  • 2. Prewriting is the step in which you bring all of yourthoughts and insight to paper and/or computer screen.This step is where you would decide on a topic thatbest fits your essay. You can do this by using thesefour strategies:1. Using experience and observations2. Reading3. Freewriting4. Asking questionsThese steps will help you choose the topic of youressay.
  • 3. In this step, you take what you gathered fromyour prewriting strategies and structure youressay. Outlining allows you to organize yourideas and focus on the main points of youressay.
  • 4. Once the outline has been written, the next step isto write the initial draft of the essay. Thisshould be done by using the information yougathered in step 1 and the outline you createdin step 2.
  • 5. Here one can read over their essay and see if theyfind any holes that need to be filled with moreinformation and/or moving parts of your essayaround to give better clarity of what is written.
  • 6. Editing is the step where you revise and objectifyyour essay to grammar, punctuation andsentence structure.
  • 7. With using these 5 steps, you will havesuccessfully written a well-written essay. Inthe future, these 5 steps will always guaranteesuccess in writing an essay.
