  • 13. Corrosion Why is that a problem ?
  • 14. Why is corrosion a problem ? Because it leads to: • Replacement cost • Production loss • Bad image • Potential accident
  • 15. Replacement Cost • Direct cost is 10 to 15 times more expensive than anticorrosive protection and new coating still has to be made
  • 16. Production loss • Every equipment or facility stopped for replacement is not producing and causing severe loss
  • 17. Bad image • Corroded facilities give the impression of careless attitude towards the facility and the products we are selling Bad image
  • 18. Potential accident • Metallic and concrete equipments and structures are subjected to very powerful forces at all times • The potencial to resist to these forces diminishes if the corrosion is strong • Weak resistent materials may collapse at any time
  • 19. Anticorrosive protection advantages • Lower cost compared to replacement • Can be done during normal operation so there is no production loss • Gives better image of Company • Avoids Potential accidents • 5 years guarantee Cahora Bassa Dam Mozambique
