What a Resume is...
An advertisement for you,
your experience and your knowledge.
First impression of your professionalism.
Your ability to research;
Your ability to communicate and;
Your ability to become a “Team Player.”

What a Resume is NOT…
A Resume will never get you an interview!
The purpose is to eliminate applicants;
First cut by either HR or a computer
A well written Resume is never a guarantee of getting the interview.

Resume Rule # 1
Nothing is as hard as it seems,
but everything is harder
than it looks. ©
Professionals may not always agree on the format, language or content, but we all agree on one thing –
A good resume is not an easy thing to design or develop!

Resume Rule # 2
K.I.S.S.
Keep It Short and Simple.
Survey of HR and hiring representatives says~
One to two pages – MAXIMUM.
Use a Chronological format.
List jobs for the last 10-years only.
Do list skill sets or areas of expertise.
DO A SPELL CHEECK before submission!

Resume Rule # 3
Your Career Objective:
It’s not about you!
Never tell a company what you want;
Do tell a company how you can –
Make Them Money,
Save Them Money or
Save Them Time ©

Resume Rule # 4
Lying is not an option!
You will be found out;
You will first in the rejection pile;
You will be fired;
Your reputation will be ruined!

Know your audience
Resumes are not written in stone;
Research the company;
Use the same language as the career announcement;
