  • Bay Pines VA Healthcare System 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines, Fla. 33744 Contact: Faith Belcher Faith.Belcher2@va.gov O: 727-398-9531 C: 727-483-2663 MEDIA RELEASE FOR RELEASE: January 13, 2010 Lee County VA Outpatient Clinic Groundbreaking Set for January 14, 2010 Cape Coral, Fla. -- The ground breaking of the new Lee County VA Outpatient Clinic located at 2489 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, Fl 33909 will be held January 14th at 10 a.m. United States Senator, George LeMieux, will be the keynote speaker and the ceremony will be open to the general public. Other speakers include representatives from VA, Kraft Construction Company Inc., and Cape Coral’s Mayor Sullivan. Craig Wolf, Senior Anchor WBBH NBC-2, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. The groundbreaking ceremony marks another step forward in the construction of the $131.8 million state-of-the-art medical complex serving veterans in southwest Florida. The new clinic will be a comprehensive outpatient healthcare center with primary and specialty care services along with mental health, diagnostic radiology, and laboratory services. New and/or expanded programs being offered in the region include: audiology, cardiology with cardiac non-invasive diagnostic services, urology, GI, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dermatology, minor surgery, and advanced imaging including CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and vascular Doppler ultrasound. Once open, the new clinic will replace the existing Fort Myers clinic location on Winkler Extension. The clinic was designed by Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK) and will be constructed by Kraft Construction, Inc., based out of Naples, Florida. Media: The event is open to news organizations interested in covering.
