David Ross Carothers, CIC, CRM
Risk Management Advisor
David has several years of experience providing clients with
creative solutions to more effectively manage their total cost of
risk. He specializes in commercial property and casualty
insurance placement for middle market companies of all types
and specifically in the technology and life sciences industries.
He holds general lines insurance licenses in Florida and other
states. He also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor and
Certified Risk Manager designations from The National Alliance
for Insurance Education and Research and is currently pursuing
the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation
from the Insurance Institute of America.
Prior to entering the insurance industry, David held various general management positions
with profit and loss responsibilities for two Fortune 500 companies. His over ten years of
profit and loss management experience gives him a unique and refreshing perspective when
helping clients reduce their total cost of risk.
David is the Director and a founding member of the Tampa Young Business Professionals. He
is active in several civic organizations including serving as the Chief Financial Officer of
ScubaNauts International, a national not‐for‐profit teaching leadership and teamwork skills to
teens from 12‐18 years of age. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Star‐Tec
Enterprise center in Pinellas County and an ad‐hoc board member for their member
companies. He serves as an advisor in the Tampa Bay Technology Forum Emerging Companies
Academy as well as serving in the Tampa Bay Technology Foundation. He is a contributing
author for Bay Area Business Magazine as well as a keynote speaker on a variety of technology
and life sciences specific risk management topics at incubators and accelerators throughout
the Florida High‐Tech Corridor. David is also a member of Florida BIO (Tampa, Northeast and
Orlando Chapters), the Gainesville Area Innovation Network, Florida Business Incubator
Association and actively assists their member companies with the creative structuring of risk
management programs.
Prior to joining Praxiom, David was an Enterprise Sales Advisor for a multi‐million dollar
commercial risk management agency where he was repeatedly recognized for exemplary
achievement.
David holds Bachelors of Science Degrees in Management and Marketing from Birmingham‐
Southern College and has done post‐graduate work in public and private management.
