Apart from social networks based on friendship, there are
social networks based on interest – in our case, they are built
around books. Those sites can be compared to virtual book
clubs, where people can exchange opinions on their readings.
Every member of this community is allowed to participate by
adding new content and rank books.
Amazon is just the most important bookseller in the world.
His recommendation service looks like social recommendation
but in reality is all about mathematics. Nevertheless, the
catchphrase “Customers who bought this item also bought…”
is the key of its success. Don’t forget that the power of Amazon
relies on this old saying “Money talks”!
On the blogosphere, they are thousands of blogs
dedicated to books. They are written by book lovers
or professionals like authors themselves. Depending on
the blogger, they can be focused on the latest books
or give a new breath to classical literature. Everyone
can react by posting a comment on the articles.
