  • Delayed coker is a method to transform heavy residues into higher value transportation fuels. During the initial crude oil distillation process, these heavy residues are left behind and, without a coker, most of this “bottom of the barrel” material is blended into heavy fuel. The coker will enable Total to convert more of its crude oil into higher value transportation fuels. Vacuum distillation is a method of separating chemical substances in crude oil whereby the pressure above the liquid mixture to be distilled is reduced to less than its vapor pressure causing evaporation of the chemicals with the lowest boiling points.   Distillate hydrotreatment is a method to remove sulfur from diesel to produce ultra-low sulfur diesel, which will be the U.S. standard in 2010.   Naphtha hydrotreatment is a method to remove sulfur from naphtha. Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) is a method to to recover hydrogen from the processes. Sulfur Recovery Unit is a unit that separates sulfur from hydrogen.
