• Bankers Petroleum Founders Gensis of BNK was wholly owned sub of Bankers Petroleum. We’ve been doing shale gas since 2005. At that time there was only the Barnett and the Woodford was starting out.
  • Fresh water is very shallow. Shale wells don’t produce much water - lot’s of non-freshwater zones between shale and fresh water

    5. 5. BNK Petroleum US Tishomingo Woodford Shale Field Began Exploring for Shale Gas in 2005
    6. 6. BNK Producing well - USA
    7. 7. Natural Gas 2,000 - 4,500 m 10 - 150m
    8. 8. Shale rock with gas
    9. 9. Production of Gas from Shale

Combines two existing proven oil and gas extraction techniques, hydraulic stimulation and horizontal drilling.

Horizontal Drilling

Drilling a well vertically from the surface and then deep underground redirecting it horizontally using sophisticated technology to increase the contact with the hydrocarbon reservoir

True development of horizontal wells began over 35 years ago.

Hydraulic Stimulation

Injecting water, sand and additives into hydrocarbon bearing reservoir to increase flow rates

Hydraulic fracture stimulation has been used for the last 50+ years with over 1 million stimulations performed by 1988

Currently over 35,000 wells per year are hydraulically stimulated

    10. 10.

Baseline sampling of local environment

During drilling operations, three separate steel pipes “surface, intermediate and production casing” are installed and cemented below all fresh water zones to surface.

To confirm competent isolation, each casing is individually pressure tested and the cement integrity is evaluated using modern logging tools.

After each drilling operation, the local environment is again evaluated and compared to baseline ensuring that operations have not negatively impacted the area.

Protection of Water
    11. 11. Protection of Water

Rock samples taken while drilling are analyzed and a stimulation is designed utilizing the most environmentally friendly additives approved by regulators.

The casing is pressure tested a second time to pressures encountered during the stimulation to again confirm complete integrity

When a fracture stimulation is performed pressures are monitored between the casings. If pressure is detected then the stimulation is immediately stopped.

After the stimulation, operations fluids flow back from the well and are directed into tanks/containers on the drilling location and then recycled if the project is in development mode or properly disposed of during exploration activities.

Pressure monitoring during stimulation
    12. 12. Experience From USA Operations

1. Strong technical knowledge in:

Shale gas exploration though failures and successes

Shale gas drilling operations by using best industry standards and practices to minimize footprint and disturbances to local communities

Hydraulic stimulation design and safe execution

Development and production operation

Water management – during all aspects of the operations
