CHILDREN AND EDUCATION FIRST Pitshou Kafuku Fonder and President
WHY AFRICA STILL BEHIND?
More than 85% of primary pupils make the transition in most countries of Europe, Asia, North and South America
But in Africa only 62% complete primary education
In one out of four African countries, half of children enrolled to the secondary level
Africa has the lowest primary completion ratios in the world
Only 8 out of 45 countries reach Europeans level of ratios exceeding 90%: Algeria, Botswana, Cape Verde, Egypt, Mauritius, Seychelles, South Africa and Tunisia
However 4 out 10 children still did not complete primary school in 2002/2003
In 19 African countries, the ratios are 50% or lower, meaning that at least every second child does not complete primary school.
Only about one in three children will complete primary education in six countries: Niger (21%), Burkina Faso (27%), Chad (32%), Burundi (32%) and Mali (33%)
Primary education is just a beginning but, at the current slow rates, many will never catch up.
22 countries in sub-Saharan Africa had low enrolments, highly unequal gender ratios, widespread illiteracy and low educational quality leading to high dropouts
AFRICA HAS A FORM OF GUN
African proverb says “ Africa has a form of a Gun, and the trigger is located in D.R.C”
Congo occupies the heart of Africa and it has all the necessaries potential resources to develop itself and the rest of Africa
Mothers die in childbirth in 13 out of every 1,000 deliveries, and there are over 4 million orphaned children in the country
Natural resources: Coltan, gold, diamond, petrol, zinc, cobalt, water, uranium, hydropower, divide by equator, 75% cover with forest, etc.
Four out of ten children are not in school. 400,000 displaced children have no access to education
Decline the 12 percentage points from 30% to 18% of children who will entering secondary school.

WHY C.E.F.’S MAIN FOCUS IS D.R.C?
D.R.C. is the third largest country in Africa with 905,351 sq. mi.
Population is 62 million; 10 millions live in the Capital Kinshasa
DRC has the worst imperialism history in the world,10 million Congolese were killed from 1870 to 1908 of King Leopold II of Belgium, and 4.5 million from 1999 to 2006
DRC minerals is the main reason to see this country loose almost 15 million people in less than 150 years
Only Tantalum, Coltan, and Niobium had fuelling the war, but these are just few of DRC minerals
120,000 displaced every month during a decade and 1.66 million remain displaced
WHY URGED INVESTEMENT IN D.R.C. EDUCATION?
Education is the main key to prevent another worst thing happen in the next 10 or 20 years
It would be a big treat to the population security and stability if there is not improvement in the education system
If 5.4 million Congolese can get killed in 21 st Century without seeing the world stand up against it, what else can we expect from industrial countries that are still angry to feed their industries?
C.E.F. needs anyone help to stand up together and fight for this poor population who are victim of their country’s riches
Education systems in DRC are marked by inadequate teaching, lack of resources, like basic textbooks, chalkboards and curricula
Teaching methods following the old foreign curricula, and the students condition of studying are hard to believe
More the 30,000 children had served in this war, however more the 4.4 million children are not attending school in the country
This situation have to be taken seriously, the world has to stop ignoring what is going on in DRC

WHY C.E.F. WAS CREATED?
The war that killed 5.4 million Congolese is the main reason of C.E.F. creation
C.E.F. is looking to educated Congolese population about needs for a better future
There is not any urgent solution proposed by DRC government to prevent this kind of situation in the future
It is only by emphasizing education of young students that we can guaranty a save future
U.N. is protecting big companies that have been fueling this war for many years since 1996
Coltan's high demand worldwide looks not good for the peace processes in D.R.C.
Industrial countries as U.S., France, Germany, Belgium companies still purchasing large amount Coltan from D.R.C. because they cannot be stopped
These companies, such as Eagle Wings Resources International of Ohio, Cabot Corporation of Boston, Mass, Chemie Pharmacy Holland…
The International Criminal Court has also started its own investigation
RAID is calling on all named governments to cooperate with the court
