PIROZZOLO COMPANY PUBLIC RELATIONS PIROZZOLO COMPANY EXPERIENCE Technology Advanced Writing Software Arranged coverage of WhiteSmoke, advanced comprehensive writing solution, based on natural language processing (NLP) technology, in The Washington Post and on Network TV affiliate websites as well as Forbes.com and other media outlets that influence students and young American workers who know that writing is the key to their success. Peer-to-Peer File Transfer Promote PeerApp, developer of Ultraband 2000, a caching solution that enables ISPs to reduce bandwidth requirements by over 50%. Arranged coverage in Slyck, Online Media, Telecom Asia and orchestrated analyst meetings on the East and West Coasts Biometric Technology The firm promoted recent developments in Biometric Technology for Security Applications at a high level New York conference hosting senior management of Visionics, Viisage and Sony. Clients, the Strategic Research Institute and Morpheus Technologies. Coverage by AP, The New York Times, UPN-TV, New York and media from The Netherlands, France, and Norway. Petroleum Management Software Implemented a public relations campaign for Wright-Express Corporation, developer of an IT system for truck fleets, and systems to operate unmanned gasoline stations. Campaign resulted in coverage by The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, CBS-TV Evening News and the computer, fuel and trucking industry press. Attracted venture capital by A.D. Little’s Memorial Drive Fund. Activated Carbon Treatment Technology Arranged for Dr. Donald Kemp of M&E to appear as an expert witness at U.S. EPA hearings on activated-carbon technology for water treatment. Provided media training for Dr. Kemp, arranged print and broadcast coverage and ghost- wrote technical articles. NASA Space Shuttle Test Flights Arranged national and industry coverage of Metcalf & Eddy's participation in NASA Space Shuttle test flights. Our work resulted in dozens of articles, TV appearances and professional engineering press coverage for Dr. Otis Granis, project leader who brought a distinctively inventive philosophy to engineering.
    2. Result — Dr. Granis became an engineering folk hero and extensive coverage played a vital role in helping M&E recruit top-flight young engineers. Hazardous Waste Served on the New England Council’s Hazardous Waste Committee. Arranged editorial board meetings with regional newspapers and broadcast news outlets. The meetings demonstrated concern over hazardous waste problems and opened communication channels between the media and New England companies on hazardous waste issues. Financial Institutional Investment Pension Policy Reform — On behalf of Connecticut Mutual Life (MassMutual), placed articles in The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and P&I on the consequences of asset reversion and the move from Defined Benefit to Defined Contribution pension plans in the US. As part of this effort, we worked with Robert A. Monks, Undersecretary of Labor and arranged for Connecticut Mutual to testify on ERISA reform before the US House of Representatives Committee on Aging. Institutional investment in commercial farmland — promotion of UBSArgiVest, an institutional investment advisor specializing in farmland, included coverage by P&I, The Wall Street Journal, CNN and BusinessWeek. Our publicity campaign attracted attention from Batterymarch Investments and resulted in an acquisition and creation of Batterymarch/AgriVest Company and later UBSAgriVest. Pension Plan Performance — established Trust Universe Comparison Service as a national authority on pension management performance evaluation with articles in The Wall Street Journal, P &I, Forbes and Barron’s. Venture Capital AgriVest, Inc., an institutional investment advisor specializing in farmland, included placing articles in BusinessWeek, Barron’s, The Wall Street Journal, Trusts & Estates and Mortgage Banker. The positive press resulted in the creation of Batterymarch/AgriVest. Introduced Wright Express Corporation, IT for motor fleets, to the financial and national media including CBS Evening News and CNN, resulting in venture capital financing by Arthur D. Little’s pension fund — Memorial Drive Fund. Homebuilding, Construction & Building Products Classic Post & Beam, Northeastern Log Homes, Ward Log Homes, National Association of Home Builders Systems Building Council, Portland Glass, Z-Flex Flue-Restoration Systems and SunSpaces. Commercial Real Estate Development Experience includes J/Brice Design International, interior design & architecture firm specializing in the hospitality industry and Philips International, one of the nation’s biggest developers of retail shopping centers
    3. Developed and oversaw construction of the 2008 Field & Stream Dream Cabin. Our role included garnering product sponsors: Owens Corning Roofing and Cultured Stone, ReddiForm Insulated Concrete Forms, MOEN, Congoleum, CorrectDeck, Andersen and Therma Tru. Our firm re-invented the manufactured “log cabin” product by creating the Northeastern Camp & Cabin Series of vacation homes. As part of this promotion, Pirozzolo company arranged feature coverage in Good Housekeeping, Popular Mechanics, Country Living and American Hunter. The cabin line consistently generates a significant percentage of annual sales for the client. Promoted Classic Post & Beam in the national home press. Notably, one of Classic’s models is sold through Coastal Living magazine and promoted in Good Housekeeping, Forbes and Country Home. Pirozzolo Company earned first-place honors from the National Association of Homebuilders for the design and production of Ward’s 92-page planbook and magazine advertising. Asia Vietnam Trade & Public Policy On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, we fostered US-Vietnam trade relations. This included organizing a national press tour for Vietnam’s ambassador to the US and promoting Vietnamerica, the first US trade expo in Hanoi. The campaign attracted exhibitors PepsiCo, Gillette, Microsoft, IBM, Kraft General Foods, United Technologies and Kodak. In addition, Pirozzolo Company arranged positive coverage by major US TV networks, CNN, AP, Agence France Presse, NHK, BBC and daily newspapers and newsmagazines worldwide. As a result of this success, the firm was awarded contracts to develop trade in Vietnam for Smith & Wesson and International Silver Company (Syratech). Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries Consulted to this Japanese Government Organization on issues involving the US consumer and restaurant market for seafood imported from Japan.
    4. Our People Dick Pirozzolo manages Pirozzolo Company Public Relations, which also serves as the Boston Affiliate for HFN Kommunikations, Frankfurt. The firm was founded in l981 and offers international capability in Europe through HFN Kommunikation and through our affiliates in San Francisco. Founder Dick Pirozzolo has 30 years of experience and is an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America. His earlier work includes public relations management positions with Boston University, daily newspaper reporting, freelance writing for national magazines & newspapers and four successful non-fiction books, including a history of Television in America. He was a consultant to WBZ-TV. Helmut Nollert. Managing Director, HFN Kommunikation, Frankfurt Helmut Nollert is founder and managing director of our Frankfurt, Germany affiliate HFN Kommunikation. Helmut studied journalism, philosophy and Slavic languages at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. After taking his degree, he began his career as a business and finance journalist for the international news agency VWD/Reuters and for the German business magazines Industriemagazin and WirtschaftsWoche. From 1979 to 1992 his various communication management positions included PR Manager of Wang Laboratories GmbH, World-wide media relations director for Nixdorf Computer AG, responsible for the international business press, public and investor relations and Director of Corporate Communications for Unisys Germany and Europe. In 1993 Helmut Nollert founded his own firm, HFN Kommunikation, with emphasis on corporate communications and public relations. Within HFN he is a specialist in strategic communication, and national and international business and financial media and investor relations. In addition to his native German, Helmut speaks English, Serbo-Croatian, Russian, Czech, Italian and Spanish.
