Learn About Free, Downloadable Music @ Your Library On Saturday, September 7th we’ll have a demo in the front lobby of the Central Library. Drop in between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and we’ll show you how easy it is to download free music on to your laptop, ipod, ipad or your gadget of choice. For your chance to win an iPod nano, visit the contest tab on the Library’s Facebook page, message us with your weekly downloads each week for the next four weeks starting September 7th and you’ll be entered in the draw.   • For Children 3SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER | FALL 2013 Babytalk (birth to 18 months) Songs, books, bounces, and giggles galore are what you’ll find at Babytalk! Parents and caregivers are invited to bring their babies and share in this special time. At the Central Library: Mondays at 11:00 a.m. and Thursdays at 11:00 a.m. September 9th / 12th to November 25th / 28th Toddler Time (18 to 36 months) Toddlers are invited to bring a caregiver and join us for stories, songs, wiggles and giggles. Toddlers will have a great time listening and learning. At the Central Library: Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. September 12th to November 28th At the Petticoat Creek Branch: Wednesdays at 9:45 a.m. October 2nd to November 27th Storytime Social (birth to 3 years) Parents/caregivers and their children are invited to spend time with others enjoying refreshments, while celebrating books and music.   • Family Storytime (2 to 5 years) Family storytimes are aimed at children ages 2 to 5, but everyone is welcome to join us for a toe-tapping, finger-snapping good time! At the Central Library: Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m. and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. September 10th / 14th to November 26th / 30th Petticoat Creek Branch: Tuesdays at 10:15 a.m. and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. October 1st / 5th to November 26th / 30th Kindergarten and Beyond! (3 to 5 years) This hands-on, six week program, is designed for parents/caregivers and their children to learn important early literacy skills that will help children to succeed in school. Parents/caregivers will learn fun activities they can do at home with their child to continue the early literacy learning. Parent/caregiver participation is required. Previous attendance at storytime recommended. Children must be between the ages of 3 and 5 upon registering. Younger siblings are not allowed to attend. Registration is required. If you want to motivate students who enjoy reading; get a team together and match wits with some of the best readers in town or even across the Durham Region! The Battle of the Books is hosted at two levels: the junior division is for students in grades 4 - 6 and the senior division is for students in grades 7 and 8.
