  2. 2. Objective• To evaluate operation cost of power plant from different steam turbine manufacturer
  3. 3. Cogeneration plant boundary• Have to supply process steam at same condition for all steam turbine manufacturer except process steam to deaerator with depend on feed water configuration• Have to operate at same pressure for deaerator• Demand electricity is considered just outside power plant scope and has to be same value
  4. 4. Considered Parameter• The isentropic efficiency does not mean the better plant heat rate. The another is plant configuration. The configuration of feed water heater is the main parameter or key that govern the overall plant efficiency or heat rate.• To evaluate the steam turbine efficiency, it is not only turbine efficiency itself but also the effect of other equipment in plant such as boiler, cooling tower, ect.

Equipment affected by turbine efficiencyGenerating the same output of electricity and processsteam, the different turbine efficiency result in differentpower consumption in other machine in the plant. Themain machine effected by this different are:– Cooling water pump power consumption– Boiler feed water pump power consumption– Drafting system power consumption– Fuel feeding system power consumption

Evaluation Method• Turbine manufacture supply heat and mass balance diagram base on their design• Using commercial heat and mass balanced software model complete cycle for each vendors• Specify same boundary condition and initial value (boiler eff., inlet cooling water temp.,deareator pressure, pump eff., pump diff pressure)• Run the model to compare the heat rate or plant efficiency• Check the result of initial value, if it is significantly different, the efficiency of boiler and pump shall be considered to be different• The main different result is boiler operating load. This result in the different boiler feed water pump load, condensate pump load, forced draft fan load, induced draft fan load and fuel conveying system load.
