  • 4SightBI provides Business Intelligence to property and casualty insurance carriers. They had an existing solution that was built on SAP Business Objects. However, SAP’s expensive & conventional pricing – charging for a per user / seat - caused 4SightBI to price itself out of the market. They were selling into the SMB insurance market – with deployment models that would require licensing to every insurance agent / broker of that insurance carrier. This can easily become very expensive. They needed to bring their price down and change their licensing model to what was competitive in their market (not a per seat model) – so they started to look at open source options who had a subscription based pricing. However, they soon realized that not all the open source vendors are the same. Most don’t have a full solution. As part of their evaluation they realized that J*****soft’s solution relies on Pentaho’s Mondrian engine for analysis. So they decided to cut to the chase and go to the original vendor. This eliminated the Open Source BI as 4SightBI did not want to rely on different vendors for different parts of their solution (data integration & business intelligence). They choose Pentaho because we gave them a licensing model that lets them increase their margins and also a one stop shop that let them have one vendor to do business with. They grew their sales by a 100% in the first year without growing their staff / investing more on their core IP. Today 4SightBI is expanding its business in new markets such as the UK Insurance market – in addition to their US customers, some of which are Fireman’s Fund & American Physicians Insurance.
