  • National boss Day (16 October) National Boss Day is October 16 each year. When the holiday falls on a weekend, it is generally celebrated on the working day closest to October 16. National Boss Day offers employees an opportunity to recognize those in supervisory positions. Popular ways to say "thanks" include cards, a lunch in the bosss honor, flowers, or gift certificates. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • How it starts------------ National Boss Day was started in 1958 when Patricia Bays Haroski, then an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Ill., registered the holiday with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States. She designated October 16 as the special day because it was her fathers birthday. Ms. Haroskis purpose was to designate a day to show appreciation for her boss and other bosses. She also hoped to improve the relationship between employees and supervisors. She believed young employees often do not realize the challenges bosses face in running a business. • How to be good subordinate-------- Eight Tips to maintain a good interpersonal relationship, healthy relationship with your boss & have favorable impressions over him. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 1- TAKE THE INITIATIVE: Dont wait for your boss to "give" you work. Find out what needs to be done and suggest to your boss that you do it. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 2- GENERATE NEW IDEAS: Think of better ways to do the work in your area and outside of your area too, and tell your boss about it. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 3- OFFER YOUR HELP: Your boss needs your support and help. Show her that youre there to provide full support. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 4- ASK YOUR BOSS TODELEGATE: Your boss might not be aware that you are ready to assume more responsibilities and take on new challenges. Ask the boss to delegate responsibilities you think you can take on. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 5- OFFER SOLUTIONS: Dont limit your contacts with the boss to the times you bring up a problem or a request for help. Bosses need to hear solutions, not just problems. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 6- OFFER COMPLIMENTS: The boss is human. She needs to receive compliments when she does something truly outstanding, or when she helps you in a positive way. Dont worry that it might sound insincere. Compliments, done in good taste and for a good reason, are always appreciated as long as you dont over do it. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 7- SHOW COMMITMENT: Its important for the boss to know that you care about your work, about the organization, and about the boss. Show that you care, in words and in action. Go out of your way to provide good service and promote the company, and the departments name. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
  • 8- STAY POSITIVE Employees who talk and act in a negative way can depress people around them, including the boss. Its important for your own mental health and for that of others that you stay positive and enthusiastic. Try saying "Thank God Its Monday" instead of the usual "Friday" reference. But its a matter of your general attitude, not just what you say. If you want a positive relationship with your boss, be positive yourself. Pawan Kumar Tripathi (Asst. Professor) Skyline Groups of Institutes, Greater NoIda, U.P, India
