Mobile devices are key in the relationship between a
customer and its brand*. 1 out of 3 customers are
looking for information on their mobile device rather than
asking a store employee.
This is why mobile customer care is key for business.
What is exactly a mobile customer care? It’s basically
improving the customer experience on mobile devices
(via a mobile adapted site or a mobile application that is
easy to find, SMS alerting and click-to-actions – call or
chat) the way he wants it to be improved. No need for
fancy applications: customers only need efficiency while

This week is the host for two events in the mobile market: the launch of
the first Google Nexus Phablet, powered by the latest Android OS
(Android Lollipop) and the launch of one or two new iPad(s).
But those two events barely shadow the reality: the market for devices
other than smartphones is growing very slowly. The users are not
replacing their tablets as often as their smartphones. A study* shows
that 14% of the iPads in the US still are the origin 2010 model. And the
already one-year old iPad Air is only 9% of the market share.
The reason may simply be because the difference between a tablet and
a smartphone is becoming less evident as smartphones are getting
bigger and bigger. And a tablet that would be bigger than an iPad or a
Surface would be less convenient to use (rather switching to a laptop,
then). The device makers probably are their own victims.

In a search for a social network that would better protect their privacy than
Facebook or Google, users have adhered to applications such as Secret (~350
000 downloads) or Whisper (> 2 millions).
Basically, users are looking to a way to share thoughts anonymously, without
risking to be identified. No luck for Whisper’s users, because their privacy is no
more guaranteed. The company is tracking the location of all its users’ posts*,
even when users disabled the geolocation feature (Whisper then uses the IP
address of the connected user)…
Tracking the geolocation of a user through his IP address is quite
common in the Internet world and is a feature provided by CDN (Content
Delivery Network, such as Akamai) to their clients. It allows identifying
the origin of the connected users and customize the information
accordingly. So far not so bad. But when geolocation is tracked even if
the user specifically asked not to be located, even more through an
application that claims guaranteeing its users’ privacy, is a bit cavalier. It
