God’s Man – Moment by MomentMatthew 1:1 (NIV) …Jesus Christ the son ofDavid, the son of Abraham:Romans 4:1-3 (NIV) 1What then shall we saythat Abraham, our forefather, discovered in thismatter? 2If, in fact, Abraham was justified byworks, he had something to boast about—butnot before God. 3What does the Scripture say?“Abraham believed God, and it was credited tohim as righteousness.
  • 3. God’s Man – Moment by Moment Father Abraham had many sons Many sons had Father Abraham I am one of them and so are you So lets all praise the Lord. Right arm, left arm, right foot, left foot, Chin up, turn around, sit down!This familiar children’s song subtly suggeststhat being a son of Abraham consists ofspiritual and demonstrative qualities. Todaywe will look at some of the moments ofAbraham’s life, one of God’s greatest men.
  • 4. God’s Man – Moment by MomentAbraham’s life had its moments and each included• God• His Guidance• His Greatness• His Grace
  • 5. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham was not the best in his beginning (Genesis 11) – Idolatrous and insecure• Abraham’s blessings were tied to resources that had previously produced nothing (Genesis 12) – Barrenness of his resource
  • 6. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham built altars but still a famine came (Genesis 12)• Abraham’s choice to escape the famine and go to Egypt was his choice (Genesis 12)
  • 7. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham had to release a “Lot” of baggage (Genesis 13)• Abraham learn the benefits of giving where a personal blessing exists (Genesis 14)
  • 8. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham received the covenant (Genesis 15) – God will be his shield and satisfaction – God will produce through your divine resources – What God produces will be limitless – The covenant requires us to “rest” not “wrestle” – The covenant includes chastening and disciplined patience
  • 9. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham’s choice to ignore the covenant produced delays, distractions, and ultimately distortions of truth (Genesis 16)• Abraham had to be circumcised even though…(Genesis 17)
  • 10. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham received further encouragement and reminders from God (Genesis 18) – Recognized angels – Responded to their message• Abraham was untruthful and could have poisoned the womb of his blessing (Genesis 20)
  • 11. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham received the manifestation of God’s promises and covenant in baby form (Genesis 21)• Abraham trusted God enough to sacrifice the manifestation and he received a miracle (Genesis 22)
  • 12. God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Abraham loses Sarah (Genesis 23)• Abraham seeks a resource for Isaac (Genesis 24)• Abraham is able to operate under God’s governmental authority (Genesis 25)

God’s Man – Moment by Moment• Romans 4:3 (NIV) What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”• Galatians 3:6 (NIV) Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”• James 2:23 (NIV) And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
