The transition from LAPD police officer to real estate agent was a bit difficult in the beginning. With the LAPD I had certain hours I needed to be at work. I had the power of life saving and life taking on my hip and in my pocket, I was responsible with tens of thousands of dollars in equipment and training, I had to put my life before others, including people that I did not know. And no matter what, when another officer requested help, the station would clear out and we would all roll, whether we liked the cop in trouble, or not. In real estate there are a few differences. In sales, most are not willing to help a competitor. When that competitor needs help, the room clears out, but not in the same way as being a cop. There are rarely any issues that have to do with life or death within the real estate trenches. The power to take and save a life is there, just not as readily available as when I was a cop. The nice thing is there is a rule book in place, as there was when I was an LAPD police officer. The rule book of which I speak is the Realtor's code of ethics. It is powerful stuff, and I present for you my favorite article from it - Article 1. I also give you some things that I noticed during the transition from Full Time LAPD police officer to full time Realtor. Thanks for watching our Slideshare presentation. Here are a couple of resources that I mentioned in this Realtor slide show. Our Main Site is located at http://paris911.com our Santa Clarita REMAX site is located at http://remax-santaclarita-ca-paris911.com and the location within our Paris911 Website is on this page, http://paris911.com/default.asp.pg-SantaClaritarealestatemissionstatement , it includes a link to the Realtor Code of Ethics. Enjoy and thanks for taking the time to watch and read. Sharing would be most appreciated and like it if you wish...

Santa Clarita realtor - From LAPD to Real Estate Agent Santa Clarita realtor - From LAPD to Real Estate Agent Presentation Transcript

  • FROM LAPD TO REALTOR® CONNOR T. MACIVOR, TEAM LEADER OF PARIS 911
  • As a new cop I learned we had a rule book we had to play by… This rule book is called the Constitution The other Rule Book was the LAPD manual “Our mission was to Protect and Serve our Clients, “The People in the cities where we patrolled…”
  • Constitutional rights and freedoms could not be violated… And if we did violate those “rights”, we went to jail…
  • I learned that the Criminals of the world… Did not have a Rule Book… Eventually, every criminal meets with some type of judgment, sooner or later…
  • Moving from Full time LAPD to Realtor® was an easier transition than I thought… We had a rule book that was in Place… It’s called the “Realtor® code of Ethics” Our mission, “To Protect and Serve those buying and or selling real estate…”
  • If we violate the rules as Realtors®… We could be fined or imprisoned… Rules separate those that are civilized from those that aren’t. I’m glad to be a Realtor®. I’m glad the rules exist to protect those wanting to buy and sell real estate from predators…
  • One of my Favorite Realtor® Rules… Article 1: When representing a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant, other client as an agent, REALTORS® pledge themselves to protect and promote the interests of their client. This obligation to the client is primary, but it does not relieve REALTORS® of their obligation to treat all parties honestly. When serving a buyer, seller, landlord, tenant or other party in a non-agency capacity, REALTORS® remain obligated to treat all parties honestly.
  • If you want to learn more view our Paris911 Team mission statement… To access our Mission Statement, go to our main website at www.Paris911.com Type in the words: Mission Statement Into the MacBoX at the top of the screen You will also be able to access the entire Realtor® code of ethics on that page…
