In our "How to hire the BEST moving company in 6 easy steps", we covered some of the most common pitfalls when hiring movers. Most of the companies are not even moving companies at all. They are "on line lead generation" engines that sell leads to moving companies without any care about their licensing or insurance bonds. When hiring a moving company you are going to want to look at more than what they are charging. Do they have insurance, how is their Better Business Bureau Rating, Are they a 5 star company - that may not be a good choice either, I know very few "real working companies" that have 5 stars, don't let it sound fishy to you too :) Find out how they are licensed, bonded and insured, in what states and do they have the property paperwork. When you find a couple of companies, make sure you are getting written estimates. Ask about hidden fees, be upfront with the company you are wanting to hire. Be inquisitive. Ask questions about the contract and make sure you are getting a reputable company that has a brick and mortar foundation just in case things go sideways. Without a location to actually visit, you are doing yourselves a huge disservice. Thanks to Casey Kirkman for making this presentation possible. This is to the betterment of our REMAX Relocation clients and those who's real estate needs we serve on a constant basis.
