  5. 5. Meaning of market :-<br /> The word market is derived from the Latin word ‘markets’. The meaning is to trade. Market relates with the particular where transactions are made that is buying and selling.<br /> Market means a place or geographical area where buyers and sellers meet. Goods and services are offered for sale and transfer of ownership occurs<br />The terms market however is used differently in economics and management.<br />
  6. 6. Market from economics point of view :-<br /> In economics sense market does not refer to a place or geographical area where goods and services are exchanged, but market means the point where total demand and supply are equals.<br />

Market from management point of view :-<br /> In this, market neither means a place nor commodity but a “social institution conforming the work of a middleman, transfer agent, warehouse etc. in other words market means the totality of those who are benefited from producers product or services and those who can attend to buy.<br />
  8. 8. Meaning of marketing :-<br />In simple words marketing means “the art of selling” it deals with theskills of “satisfying the customers”. It helps to reach the flows of goods and services from producers to consumers.<br /> Now a day’s marketing is playing an ideal role in business. Peter ducker has rightly said that “marketing is not a function of business but a view of the entire business as the economy organ, to provide goods and services and thus everything a business does marketing.<br />

Definition of marketing :-<br />“Marketing is a comprehensive term and it includes all resources and set up activated the flow of goods and services from the producer to the consumer including after sale services.”<br /> “Marketing is a process of discovering and translating consumer needs and wants in to product and services”<br /> “Marketing is the creation and delivery of a standard of living.”<br /> <br />

It is a special branch of management, which relates with marketing function like “posdcorb”<br /> According to WilliamsStanton: - “marketing management is marketing concept in action”.<br /> <br /> “Marketing management keeps relationship which achieving of marketing targets and performance of objective oriented activities in that direction.”<br />
