      • January 2008
      • Green Road Open Access
      • “ authors publishing in the Journal (and only authors) may post preprints to their own or their institutions repositories with links to the final article and the journal online.”
    3. Baseline Survey
      • Conducted a baseline survey to monitor the impact of the new OA policy on:
        • Submissions
        • Readership
        • Subscriptions
      • Online survey conducted in late 2007
      • Survey developed by ASIST Board of Directors and JASIST publisher Wiley Blackwell

      • Intended to reach 3 groups:
        • ASIS&T members
        • JASIST authors
        • Information Science Researchers

      • Sought to answer 4 questions:
        • Who are ASIS&T members, JASIST authors, and Information Science authors?
        • What are the publication trends among these groups?
        • What level of access to literature do members have?
        • How aware, and to what extent are these groups participating in OA?

      • Able to divide the data 3 ways:
        • General survey response
        • Response from ASIS&T members
        • Response from authors who have published in Open Access (OA) journals

      • Regionally
        • More Information Science researchers in non-western countries.
          • General survey: 71.9% North American, 11.4% European
          • ASIS&T members: 83.6% North American, 10% European
          • OA Authors: 62.6% North American, 15% European

      • Employment:
        • Most commonly employed by universities and colleges
          • General: 70.2%
          • ASIS&T members: 63.5%
          • OA Authors: 83%

      • Very positive attitude towards OA
      • 48% of comments mentioned OA
      • Overall a positive attitude towards OA and a call for ASIS&T leadership in this area

        • About half of users publish in peer reviewed journals, whereas 92% of OA authors do
