2. Are you ready to ride? Riding a motorcycle gives you a sense of freedom that you have to experience to appreciate. But first you need to know how to ride! That’s why Lively offers the Basic Riders Course.
3. Course Information The Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic Rider Course offers instruction for beginning riders 16 years or older. This course covers the basic fundamentals needed to develop the capabilities to become a safe and responsible motorcyclist. It provides the opportunity to learn physical and mental skills important for operating a motorcycle. In the classroom, riders will learn ways to minimize risk and handle special riding situations. During the riding portions of the course, riders will be coached to develop the physical skills of basic control that include: clutch/throttle control, straight line riding, stopping, turning, and shifting, and then move on to more advanced skills in stopping quickly, cornering, and swerving.
4. Student Requirements Required riding gear includes full fingered gloves, eye protection, long denim pants, long sleeve shirt/jacket and over-the-ankle boots/shoes. Students must pre-register for this class. No walk-ins will be accepted. Students are required to attend all hours of the class, successfully complete the knowledge test and skill evaluation in order to meet all requirements to obtain a motorcycle endorsement. Students will receive a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Completion Card after all requirements are met and results will be provided to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Motorcycles and helmets are furnished.
