World War II, or the Second World War was a global military conflict which involved a majority of the world's nations, including all of the great powers, organized into two opposing military alliances:the Allies and the Axis . The war in Europe began in earnest on September 1, 1939 with the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, and concluded on September 2, 1945, with the official surrender of the last Axis nation, Japan. The war involved the mobilization of over 100 million military personnel, making it the most widespread war in history. In a state of "total war", the major participants placed their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities at the service of the war effort, erasing the distinction between civilian and military resources. Over seventy million people, the majority of whom were civilians, were killed, making it the deadliest conflict in human history. It was the largest armed conflict in history, spanning the entire world and involving more countries than any other war

3. PRE WAR EVENTS In mid-1937, following the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, Japan began the Second Sino-Japanese War, culminating in a campaign to invade China. In June 1938, Chinese forces stalled the Japanese advance by flooding the Yellow River In May 1939, they became involved in a more serious border war that ended with signing a cease-fire agreement on September 15 and restoring the status quo. In March 1938 Germany annexed Austria with a supporting invasion, again provoking little response from other European powers. Germany and Italy forced Czechoslovakia to cede additional territory to Hungary and Poland. In March 1939 Germany invaded the remainder of Czechoslovakia and subsequently split it into the German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and the pro-German independent client state, the Slovak Republic.

THE WAR BECOMES GLOBAL The diversion of three quarters of the Axis troops and the majority of their air forces from France and the central Mediterranean to the Eastern Front prompted the United Kingdom to reconsider its grand strategy In July, the UK and the Soviet Union formed a military alliance against Germany and shortly after jointly invaded Iran to secure the Persian Corridor and Iran's oilfields Despite impressive territorial gains, the Axis campaign had failed to achieve its main objectives: two key cities remained in Soviet hands, the Soviet capability to resist was not broken, and the Soviet Union retained a considerable part of its military potential

11. AXIS COLLAPSE , ALLIED VICTORY German forces surrendered in Italy on April 29 and in Western Europe on May 7. On the Eastern Front, Japan surrendered specifically to the Soviets on May 8. A German Army Group resisted in Prague until May 11

12. SECRET HAND OF Sir. ALBERT EINSTEIN Albert Einstein is also often thought of as the "father of the atomic bomb." He was very concerned about the Germans developing atomic power. Einstein wrote a letter to President Roosevelt urging him to develop the bomb before the Germans did. Thus Roosevelt implemented the "Manhattan Project." His theories provided the foundation for its development, he didn't have much to do with the actual creation of the first atomic bomb. After the atomic bomb was used by the United States on Japan, Albert Einstein deeply regretted his involvement and spent the rest of his life advocating for the abolition of nuclear weapons. He also spoke out continually for the cause of peace and nonviolence.

ATOMIC BOMBS On August 6 and 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were destroyed by the first atomic bombs used in warfare The bomb affectionately named as “Little Boy”, exploded over the city of Hiroshima with a force equivalent to 12,500 ton of TNT on August 6, 1945 at 8:16:02 a.m. Nagasaki was devastated by “Fat Man”, the second nuclear weapon to be detonated over Japan.

In an effort to maintain international peace, the Allies formed the United Nations, which officially came into existence on October 24, 1945. Soon after the end of World War II, conflict flared again in many parts of the world. Economic recovery following the war was varied in differing parts of the world, though in general it was not quite positive. In total, World War II produced about 50 million deaths, more than any other war to date.
