Pre-injury StatusBefore her injury this patient was aretired 67 year old school teacher. Shelived alone with 3 cats and volunteeredfour days a week in a local library.She had a number of children andgrandchildren who come by regularly.She was also an avid bridge player andplayed every Tuesday and Sunday.Although she had an old car, shepreferred to walk or take the bus.She suffered from Diabetes Mellitus andHypertension, but these conditionswere well controlled with medication.
Present ConditionAfter her injury this patient is livingalone at her home. She takes care ofher two cats (one died since theinjury) and has resumed hervolunteer work at the library for 2days a week.She says that her children andgrandchildren visit her a lot, it lookslike more than before the accident,and must admit it tires her moreeasily than before. She has stoppedplaying bridge as she feels her headis not in it at this time.
Present ConditionApart from an occasionalheadache there are some spellsof dizziness that occur once aweek or less.She has not driven her car sincethe accident, but can take careof herself and goes out alone toshop either on foot or with thebus.
