Slide 1: The Pearson Years The 60s and the new Canada
Slide 2: Mike Pearson • Lester B. Pearson was a Canadian diplomat • Helped to create the United Nations • During the Suez Crisis, he had the idea of creating peacekeepers • Won the Noble Peace Prize • Led the Liberal Party and became Prime Minister in 1963
Slide 3: Minority Government • For the next five years, he was Prime Minister, but always in a minority government • Had to work with either the Conservatives or the NDP • Despite this, his government was very active, bringing a number of changes
