  • The BI applications enable more pervasive BI by providing role-based insight for each functional area, including sales, service, marketing, contact center, finance, supplier/supply chain, HR/workforce, and executive management. For example, Sales Analytics includes role-based applications for sales executives, sales management, as well as front-line sales reps, each of whom have different needs. The applications integrate and transform data from a range of enterprise sources—including Siebel, Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP, and others—into actionable intelligence for each business function and user role.
  • Financial Analytics – GL - Overview
  • Financial Analytics – Payables Analytics - Overview
  • Financial Analytics – Receivables Analytics - Overview
  • Financial Analytics – Profitability Overview
  • As I mentioned earlier in the presentation – there are over 360 prebuilt metrics inside the financial applications alone – as well as a series of Prebuilt dashboards, that we refer to as Intelligent dashboards that are delivered with the applications.
  • Answers provides true end user ad hoc capabilities in a pure Web architecture. Users interact with a logical view of the information—completely hidden from data structure complexity— Users can easily create charts, pivot tables, reports, and visually appealing dashboards, all of which are fully interactive and drillable and can be saved, shared, modified, formatted, or embedded in the user's personalized Oracle BI Dashboard.
  • Another aspect of delivering more pervasive BI is moving to a more condition-based approach, where the intelligence finds you only when it’s necessary or relevant, or drives multi-step intelligent workflow. It’s not just about bursting reports anymore, it’s about providing intelligence on top of a business process. Oracle Delivers provides true real-time in context sense and respond capabilities across systems tailored for any user on any device. For example – say one of my customers, Best Value, places a large order. We want the system to automatically identify large orders like this and sends a notification to the account manager in charge of Best Value – so it’s first interacting with the CRM system. Then we want the BI system to automatically query the Inventory application to make sure there is sufficient inventory to satisfy this large order. If there isn’t enough inventory, the system needs to automatically respond with an alert to the mobile phone of a distribution center manager to stock up for the large order that came in. And since this is a large order, I also want to trigger additional analysis related to this customer’s “lifetime value”, and drive additional steps and process around that specific customer based on projected value. To do this, I need real-time access to information from multiple sources – in this case both a CRM and inventory systems – and need to be able to set up proactive monitoring, workflow, and information delivery to enable the organization to sense and respond to changes in real-time. This enables organizations to optimize business workflows and add value to each interaction.
  • Speaker notes: In terms of what’s new in the Oracle BI tools, version 10.1.3.3 includes enhanced Excel and PowerPoint integration, supporting advanced Excel-based dashboard reporting, with live links to the data sourced by Oracle’s BI Server.
  • As you can see we delivered the JDE adapters for financial analytics last year. And have just delivered the JDE adapter for Supply Chain and Order Management last week. In the future we plan to begin supporting ODI-based adapters and have our sights set on adapters for: Procurement and Spend Analytics Project Analytics Manufacturing Analytics Fixed Asset Analytics
  • Anyone can build a dashboard – they are easy to build. Our competitors will show you all kinds of nice eye candy. However, in the same way that Dashboards & Reports are just the parts of the iceberg above the surface, the hard part of BI Applications is creating robust and flexible analytical capabilities for end users. The BI Apps have done this through a strong architecture up and down the entire stack - from data source to dashboard.
  • The Action Links provide a better user experience to navigate from your Oracle BI Application reports back to Oracle EBS. Our action links can move into the EBS screens in context of the record shown in the report. This can be accomplished by: Install the appropriate EBS patch for SSO integration with OBIEE. Retrieve the URL for the EBS page that you want to drill down to. create an Action Link with this URL to navigate to the Oracle Application page. It’s important to note that the lowest grain of records possible are pulled into the Oracle BI Apps from EBS, for example, GL and Inventory transactions, Order and Invoice lines, HR Employees and Events. Due to this fact it is easy for users to drill from the high level summary BI information that is created from these details down to successively more detailed information until they reach the most granular level possible. Once here, users may want to make changes to some of the transactional records related to this detailed information. Action Links make it very easy to navigate from the detailed records in BI to records in the transactional system while maintaining context.
  • JB Poindexter – manufacturing. live on Financial Analytics and Procurement/Spend Analytics with E1 8.12 as the source Compugen bought Financial Analytics in addition to JDE ERP in Q4 of FY09. They are no live. Skura is the business partner doing the BI implementation. Layne Christensen – Natural resources company into water, mining exploration Layne Christensen purchased Financial Analytics and Project Analytics. They are simultaneously upgrading from World to E1 9.0 and implementing OBIA with a planned go live date of 9/1/2010 for both projects. Johnson Diversey – commercial cleaning and sanitation company JohnsonDiversey purchased Financial Analytics, Procurement & Spend Analytics, Supply Chain and Order Management Analytics. Implementation is now underway. Weatherford – into oil field production and services Weatherford purchased and implemented Supply Chain and Order Management Analytics with JD Edwards as the source. OCS did the implementation using the Universal Adapters. They are live and presented at OOW. We hope to have them as a reference soon. Stampin up – card making and papercraft Stampin’ Up purchased OBI EE and ODI. A partner created a custom solution for them with JDE as the source data for the ETL. They are live and spoke at a users conference. Kaemingk: en benelux, financial analytics en 23 días out of the box, luego una fase de mejoras Granite Construction purchase Financial Analytics, Procurement/Spend, and Project Analytics. They have not yet started the implementation. Land O Lakes purchased 2 CPUs of OBIEE as well as Financial Analytics and HR Analytics for 25 named users in Q4 of FY09 and completed a POC shortly thereafter. The POC was mainly for OBIEE though they also brought up the GL piece of Financial Analytics in 6 weeks. In Q2 of FY10, they purchased $3.5 million dollars of BI including Supply Chain, Procurement Analytics and additional users of Financial and HR Analytics. Deloitte did the POC and is currently working on the implementation. LaFarge used and early release of the OBIA Financial Adapters for JDE to load data into their data warehouse. They used Essbase to report over it. Maine DOT is using OBIEE for a custom solution. Although they are a JDE customer, they are not using OBI EE with their JDE data. Rapid Start (removed from logos above): Tri Palm International went live very quickly with the General Ledger and Sales Order Management subject areas from the Rapid Start OCS solution with OBI EE. The source was JD Edwards World with multi-currency and multiple instances. Developers Diversified Realty also implemented Rapid Start with OBI EE. They are live on the Real Estate, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable subject areas. ABM, Developers Diversified Realty and Tri Palm International are all live on the Rapid Start JDE BI solution using OBI EE.

  • In working with many customers over the years, we have found that BI Applications are never truly entirely deployed out of the box or completely vanilla. Due to the fact that our customers always configure and / or extend the source application, there will always be a need for customization and configuration of the out of the box product. However, we have found that the magnitude of customization is typically small at the lower levels of the architecture (ETL / data integration layer) and grows toward the top of the BI Apps architecture. This is due to the fact that most customers do not customize the OLTP source data models, but rather configure and extend – since we build our BI Apps off of the standard, vanilla OLTP sources this is good news and underscores the value of the out of the box BI Applications. Conversely, the level of effort required to deliver the customizations is the opposite, that is to say it is very involved when there are changes in ETL and reduced in complexity and effort toward the top of the BI Apps architecture. This means that the match is perfect – the more difficult parts of the stack to customize are lightly touched (ETL / data integration) and the easier parts to modify are modified more.
