  2. 2. Project Background• Enhanced forum with a network of community-based organizations (RC&D, watershed stewards, water & river keepers)• New tools are needed to engage targeted groups and the general public in LaMP implementation 2

Environmental Knowledge Network for Lake Erie • Environmental knowledge network can be a valuable tool to move forum participants towards effective implementation of LaMP priorities • Co-creation process will be established to enable all forum participants to feed data, information, and knowledge into the system 3
  4. 4. Environmental Knowledge Network for Lake Erie • Advanced ICT and Geospatial technologies will be utilized to build solid foundation for the tool • The network will be maintained constantly and long-term • The network will tap into the existing systems in the region 4

Environmental Knowledge Network for Lake Erie • Topics for Content: History, Geology, Geographic Features, Lake and Watershed Environment, Tourist Attractions, Economy, Environmental Issues, Policies, Environmental Data, Live Maps etc. • Technology: Social Web, GIS, Mobile, Multimedia, 3D Visualization etc. 5

Environmental Knowledge Network for Lake Erie • Information Sources: LaMP, SOLEC, Geospatial Data from Multiple Sources, Maps, Research Publications, You & Me (Communities at Large) • Communities: Tourists, Local Environmental Groups, Government Agencies, NGOs, and Universities etc. from both US and Canada 6
