Blackboard Grade Center:Presented by OTC Online Blackboard Support
Of all the questions we receive, thoseabout Grade Center often have the mostimpact on students.In online classes, most assignments aretied directly to the Grade Center.In seated classes, instructors use theGrade Center to show students theirprogress online.
• Navigating in Grade Center• Grade Columns• Calculations• Grading
Navigating in Grade Center• Use the Control Panel below the Course Menu to get to Grade Center. – You can view the Full Grade Center or the Needs Grading area which contains only assignments that have been submitted by students and have not yet been graded.
Grade Columns• Full Grade Center – Columns appear for Student names, Last Access, and assignments that have been created in Blackboard – Additional columns can be created for assignments that are not found within Blackboard – Displayed columns can be changed using Column Organization found in the Manage menu
Grade ColumnsTwo ways to hide columns:1. Hide columns in the Grade Center. This method does not hide from students in My Grades.2. Hide columns from Students using Edit Column Information. This method does hide from students in My Grades.
Grade Columns• Grade Center columns cannot be deleted until the assignment they are linked to has been deleted.• Please note: Deleting an assignment or assessment will remove all students submissions for the item.
Calculations• Running Total – If Calculate as a Running Total is set to No, Grade Center will calculate all ungraded items as zeros. – Selecting Yes will calculate only graded items.• Weighted Grades – All items must be assigned to a category in order for Weighted Grades to calculate properly.
Grading• Grades can be entered directly into the Grade Center Grid by enter numbers into the cells.• Assignments can be Graded by selecting a Grade option from the Column drop menu.
Grading• Discussions can be graded by selecting Grade from the Forum drop menu and then clicking the Grade button for each student.
