Are we limited to typefaces that are freely available? What are the legal issues regarding embedded fonts? What’s the difference between free typefaces and those free for use in ebooks? What is the cost of typographic freedom (for licensing—or failing to license fonts)?

The OFL (Open Font License) is a EULA that allows embedding Some Adobe Type Library fonts have EULAs that allow embedding: http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/legal/additional_licenses.html
