What is Wikiwijs • December 2008: Former Minister of Education launches Wikiwijs as a national OER initiative: • initial focus on primary, secondary and community college education • but actually for all educational sectors • April 2009: broad support in Parliament • August 2009: Actual start of implementation • December 2009: 1st version of platform online • Five years program, until ultimo 2013

  • 10. Methodology • Sources lessons learned: – Observations – Periodical surveys • Justification – PRECEDE – PROCEED (Green & Kreuter, 2005) – Reasoned Action Approach (Fishbein & Ajzen, 2010) – Self Determination Theory (Deci & Ryan, 2000)

Lessons learned Quality is important Creating OER is a collective activity Existing OER communities do not join voluntarily in Wikiwijs Sharing OER has to be encouraged and should be made easy Creating OER is a complex task One interface does not fit all Governmental policies and regulations are needed
  • 16. Sequel • Portal / platform service on Kennisnet – Development and support • Stimulation for open and online education – early 2014 announced by current Minister of Education Bussemaker – for higher education – 1M€ / year for several years • No sequel on national level for other educational types
