• Hi, my name is Steve Carson. I’m External Relations Director for MIT OpenCourseWare and privileged to currently be serving as the first president of the OpenCourseWare Consortium.
 • I’d like to share a little of the history of OCW—what it is, how it came about, what it means for the people who use it and the universities that produce it.

Consortium
Vision
We envision a world in which the desire to learn is fully met by the opportunity to do so anywhere in the world….

The Consortium acts to realize this vision by addressing one issue—that of access to high-quality educational materials.
Tujiguoman!! - CC BY-NC 3.0

6. 6. Vision
Self learner
“I returned to OCW again and again
for information on plastics, recycling technologies, water filtration, and more. The project was a success, and we could not have done it without OCW.”
Megan Brewster - CC BY-NC-SA 3.0
10. 10. Self learner
Vision
“It was much better than any other information I found on the internet. I didn't want to just copy the circuit without understanding it. MIT OpenCourseWare was different because it explained things step by step. Using the open courseware saved us a lot of time and money.”
AIDG - CC BY-NC-SA 3.0
