Computer Characteristics

  1. 1. KELOMPOK IV • Muh. Kadri • Arwini • Andi Tenri • Mansyur • Yusuf Bahasa Inggris Teknik
  2. 2. Characteristics of ComputerComputers can be divided into two types based processor used is: Computers with a Single Processor The computer have only one processor so it is easier to control because it does not need the help of the work of the other processor to executes a command Computers with Multi Processor Type of computer that have more than one processor, this processor can be divided into two types:  SMP (symetric Multi Processor)  Each processor is a copy of the operating system to be able to work without affecting the overall system performance  ASMP (Asymetric Multi Processor)  processor types are interrelated and have their respective functions and is controlled by a main processor
  3. 3. Central Processing Unit (CPU)CPU (Central Processing Unit) is a device that isused to process the data which is enteredthrough the input device and the result will bedisplayed by Output Device.CPU consists of two integral parts, namely: ALU (arithmetic logic unit)  serves to process commands related to arithmetic and logic functions CU (Control Unit)  serves to control all the processes that occur in a computer system from input to output
  4. 4. ALU (Arithmatic Logic Unit)ALU has the following task : Perform all Arithmetic Task that occurs in accordance with the instruction program Make a decision of a logic operation with the instruction program
  5. 5. CU ( Control Unit )CU has the following task : Organize and control the I/O Devices Taking instruction from main memory Retrieving data from main memory for processing Sending instructions to ALU if any arithmetic or logical comparison and oversees the work of ALU Saving the results of the process into main memory
  6. 6. MemoryThere are Three Kind of memory contained inthe computer system: Register  Storing data/command has been processed, the memory storage is saved temporary Main Memory  Storing data/commands to be processed, the memory storage is saved temporary Secondary Storage  storing data/commands permanently
  7. 7. In addition to the CPU which is an importantcomponent in the computer system, it neededadditional equipment broadly divided into two:Hardware SoftwareMain Board Microsoft WindowsATX Power supply LinuxHard Disk Drive PhotoshopCD ROM Drive Etc.Floppy Disk DriveVideo Graphic CardSound CardEtc.
  8. 8. Computers are tools used to manage/ process information or Information Management Systems.Embedded Computers is a computer system input / output devices embedded directly in a ROM chip, it is commonly known as a Microcontroller
  9. 9. Broadly speaking, the computer consists of 4main parts: ALU (Arithmetic Logic Unit) CU (Control Unit) Memory I / O DeviceIn a simple function of the computer isprocessing the command stored in the computermemory then produce an output.
  10. 10. Operating SystemOperating System is a set of program code that serves to determine which programs in a computer system that will be run and what tools will be used to run the program.
  11. 11. Input Device Keyboard  Smart Card Screen Mouse  Document  Conceptual Track Ball Reader Keyboard Joystick  Graphic  Scanner Barcode Tablets Magnetic  Sound Tape Recogniser Laser Card  Touch Sensitive
  12. 12. Output Device Monitor  Sound Magnetic Printer (Dot, speakers Tape InkJet, Laser)  Floppy Disk  CD Rom Plotter  Hard Disk  DVD Rom
