    • Media and Culture: Advertisement Project
      Nutchawin (Buen) Nakajud
      English 11 Period 4
    • What is being advertised?
Gastro, the instant relief of acid indigestion.
      a) What is the predominant type of technique and/or claim used in the ad?
      Hidden fears.
      b) Explain how you know it is this type of technique?
The predominant type of technique used in this product is hidden fears because Gastro suggests that it can help to release the acid inside the stomach from indigestion.
      3. Explain what the ad is trying to convince you of?
The ad is trying to convince the viewers of how badly the man suffers from acid indigestion, showing the pig kicking his stomach.
      4. Explain how the design/layout/color, etc of the ad contributes to how it convinces you?
The layout of this ad is really eye-catching from the shadows of the man’s stomach portraying a pig inside. The color of the black shadows against the man’s skin color is very realistic to a point that makes me rapidly understand the ad.
    • 5. a) Explain what is well done in this ad.
The use of shadows and colors is done really well in the ad. They can contribute to the viewers to see that there is a pig inside his stomach, letting the viewers understand that he has eaten pork and get stomachache. Therefore, he needs Gastro as an instant relief of acid indigestion.
      b) Explain what, if anything, is not well done or misleading? Why?
This ad is great and effective. The only thing that may be misleading is the portrait of the pig because it is impossible to eat a pig.
    • What is being advertised?
American jeans product, Levi’s Capital E, which is handmade edition.
      a) What is the predominant type of technique and/or claim used in the ad?
      Facts and figures.
      b) Explain how you know it is this type of technique?
The predominant type of technique used in this ad is because of the right handprint showing that Levi’s Capital E is made by hands.
      3. Explain what the ad is trying to convince you of?
The advertisement is trying to convince that the product is very unique and stylish, because this edition of Levi’s is handmade. It is the limited edition to attract the customers to buy and owe it.
Explain how the design/layout/color, etc of the ad contributes to how it convinces you?
The design and colors of this ad is very interesting and attractive. The design of showing the handprint in the middle of the ad can pull me towards this ad as a curiosity to see what the handprint in this product is meant to be. Together with the black color of the handprint of white-grey background makes a good visibility.
    • 5. a) Explain what is well done in this ad.
The design and colors of this ad is done really well. This advertisement is a very simple one but it can use creative design and appropriate colors to make the ad stands out, attracting the viewers effectively.
      b) Explain what, if anything, is not well done or misleading? Why?
This ad is the one that I like the most. In my opinion, there is nothing that is not well done or misleading. It is a very effective and attractive advertisement.
    • What is being advertised?
The mini soft drink cans, Pepsi.
      a) What is the predominant type of technique and/or claim used in the ad?
      Visual
      b) Explain how you know it is this type of technique?
The predominant type of this ad is visual because the size of the ice cubes and tray are much smaller than they actually are.
Explain what the ad is trying to convince you of?
The ad is trying to convince that the size of the Pepsi mini can is very small from the size of the ice cubes that will be put in the glass of Pepsi mini cans.
Explain how the design/layout/color, etc of the ad contributes to how it convinces you?
The layout and colors of this ad is attractive. The mini ice cubes and tray are put in the middle of the ad to make it a good visibility. The blue background is related to the dominant color of the product Pepsi.
    • a) Explain what is well done in this ad.
The very small size of the ice cubes and tray is well done in this ad, which makes the viewers to convince why the size has to be very small, relating to the mini cans of Pepsi.
      b) Explain what, if anything, is not well done or misleading? Why?
The size of the ice cubes and tray is actually misleading because it is exaggerated. The actual size of the ice cubes and tray can not be that small.
